Neil Patrick Harris celebrates his 48th birthday with his children in Sydney while in quarantine - ahead of his judging role on Australia's Got Talent

Neil Patrick Harris is currently in Australia, where he's undergoing a mandatory 14-day quarantine. 

The actor turned 48 on Tuesday, and despite being locked down, he made the most of his special day. 

In a photo shared to Instagram, Neil donned a gold paper hat and cuddled up with his 10-year-old twins, Harper Grace Burtka-Harris and Gideon Scott Burtka-Harris.

The children beamed alongside their dad, the family enjoying the makeshift celebration. 

Neil wrote in his caption: 'Today's my birthday. These are my two favorite gifts. #grateful #48'.

David shared a tribute to Neil on Tuesday, positing a festive image of the actor sipping a pineapple in swimwear to Instagram. 

He wrote:  'Happy Birthday. You constantly amaze me. You are selfless, sexy, adorable, smart as hell, an incredible father and the best husband a guy could have.

'This year has truly been one to remember. The silver lining in this pandemic is that we have become closer. I couldn't believe I could love you more but as we continue to grow in our relationship it's deeper and more abundant.'  

He added: 'Here's to the next year, I bet it is going to be the best yet!! I can't wait to see what the future holds. Happy 48th you stud!'

It comes after the line-up for Australia's Got Talent judging panel for 2021 was announced on Sunday.  

How I Met Your Mother star Neil and UK pop star Alesha Dixon will join an all-star panel of Australian artists including Kate Ritchie and Shane Jacobson.

'To say I'm a fan of the AGT franchise is an understatement. I've been watching since the very first season,' Neil said.

'Australia has phenomenal talent across so many disciplines, and I couldn't be more thrilled to join AGT in 2021 to see firsthand what the country's awesome contestants have to offer,' he added.
