Is everything okay? Kate Ritchie looks downcast as she heads out for a coffee with a friend after being announced as a new Australia's Got Talent judge

She was recently announced as a new addition to the Australia's Got Talent judging panel.

But if Kate Ritchie was happy about her new job, she didn't show it on Tuesday, with the actress appearing downcast while grabbing coffees with a friend in Randwick.

The 42-year-old Home and Away alum went incognito for the outing in a head-to-toe black ensemble.

The radio personality wore a bulky jacket over a jumper and leggings.

Ritchie covered her brunette tresses beneath a dark black cap and capped off the look with black sneakers.

Kate didn't appear too happy as she carried a tray of takeaway coffees back to her table, a gal pal following closely behind.

The low-key outing comes two days after the actress made a big announcement about her new career opportunity on Instagram.

She captioned a promo shot of her on the talent show with the caption, 'Get ready for AGT 2021!'

Name-checking her fellow judges, she added, 'I am not only flattered to be sharing the AGT panel with Neil Patrick Harris, Alesha Dixon and Shane Jacobson but also super excited to see the incredible talent Australia has to offer.'

Meanwhile, Alesha Dixon reportedly scored a six-figure deal to become a judge alongside Kate after plans to sign Amanda Holden fell through.

Sources claimed the Heart Radio presenter, 50, turned the opportunity down in order to continue with projects in the UK - so producers then turned to Alesha, 42, instead.

An inside source told The Sun: 'Amanda was the first choice for Australia’s Got Talent and she had a series of meetings but logistically she just could not make it work.

They continued: 'Her daughters are in school here so even if she didn’t have work commitments, it would have been difficult to be away from them.

'Although Alesha wasn’t who they wanted originally, she has secured a lucrative contract and it’s a good deal which will really heighten her career Down Under.'

Amanda and Alesha have been judges on Britain's Got Talent together for the past nine years after Alesha joined the panel in 2012.

While this year's series of the talent show was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic, Amanda has kept busy with her family commitments, her job hosting the Heart Radio Breakfast show, and an upcoming series on Channel 4.

MailOnline have contacted representatives for Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Australia's Got Talent for comment.

It comes after the line-up for Australia's Got Talent judging panel for 2021 was announced on Sunday.

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris and UK pop star Alesha Dixon will join an all-star panel of Australian artists including Ritchie and Shane Jacobson.

'To say I'm a fan of the AGT franchise is an understatement. I've been watching since the very first season,' Neil said.

'Australia has phenomenal talent across so many disciplines, and I couldn't be more thrilled to join AGT in 2021 to see firsthand what the country's awesome contestants have to offer,' he added.

Meanwhile, Alesha is a seasoned talent show judge, having appeared on the British's Got Talent and America's Got Talent.

She said: 'I'm super excited to be joining the panel at AGT. I can't wait to see what talent Australia has to give and I'm really looking forward to working with my fellow judges.'

Filming for the new series will begin at the end of the month, with production set to take place at the Star Event Centre in Sydney from June 30 to July 6.
