WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Woodbridge woman is facing charges after police say she locked her child out of the house following an argument that escalated Wednesday night.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, 37-year-old Ange Nizigiyimana Swinton has been charged with felony child neglect.

Officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Rail Stop Drive shortly after 8:45 p.m. to investigate child neglect. Upon arrival, investigators learned a juvenile victim got into an argument with Swinton, a family member, that escalated.

After the altercation, Swinton allegedly prevented the victim from getting into the home for an "extended period of time" and refused to help the victim.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for help and later released to Social Services.

Swinton was held on a $5,000 bond. Her current status is unknown at this time.
