From Italy With Love

Italy is a magical place. Beautiful cathedrals, fields of flowers, the sea, the Alps, the food, city squares and of course amore’ abound within its boot-like border. I was able to visit some years ago and it still stamps a smile on my face when I think of it much like the memory of a long-lost love. The charm of Italy and all it has to offer spills over into everything it does.  Whether it’s the Sistine Chapel, the canals of Venice or the sunflower-clad hills of Tuscany, Italy exudes class.

Italians bring their love of speed to market through the limited-edition 2020 Alfa Romeo Spider Italia.  I laid my eyes upon it at the Chicago Auto Show last week.  Hand made in Modena, Italy its craftsmanship is second to none and just 15 will be produced in Misano Blue as pictured here.  An instant collector’s item, Alfa Romeo continues to climb the ladder of success with its storied entrance back into the American market through fine Italian design.

The 4C Spider Italia adds sport to the equation (as well as an additional $5000 to the price) so those with an eye for a real “feel of the road” experience can revel in it.

Its mid-engine design brings an all aluminum 1750 cc turbo-charged rocket to the table as the Alfa Romeo Spider remains true to its racing roots.

Tipping the scale at just 2500 pounds, it boasts 237 horsepower and 258 lb. ft. of torque fulfilling its super-car destiny on the track by reaching 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph.

Product managers Ben Lyon and Berj Alexanian from FCA, outlined the details to the press and the world at The Chicago Auto Show.  I captured this live via Facebook, click here to view the handcrafted lines and special features of the 4C Spider.

A carbon fiber, Formula 1-inspired monocoque chassis charts an eye-popping 10.4 power-to-weight ratio.  Its 6-speed auto-shift manual transmission pairs with RWD to give the full racecar feel to this Alfa.

The interior is classically spartan, but includes a back-up camera, rear-park sensors and cruise control standard.  Email sales@alfaromeo.com if you’d like to get in on one of these limited-edition Spiders.

Not everyone can make a trip overseas to see the sights Italy has to offer, but thanks to Alfa Romeo we can experience a little bit of the Italian luxury, design and handcrafted excellence they’re known for right here at home through the 2020 Alfa Romeo Spider Italia.

Ciao’ for now…
