Excellent Feature, Video and Photo Opportunity

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) invites parents, families and students to learn about school choice options and explore the specialized educational opportunities available at its Magnet Programs Expo. Hosted by BCPS Applied Learning Department, the Magnet Programs Expo takes place on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Nova Southeastern University, Rick Case Arena at Don Taft University Center, 3300 S. University Drive, Fort Lauderdale, 33328, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Families can discover the rigorous, award-winning magnet programs that BCPS offers for students in elementary, middle and high school. Magnet programs have specialized curriculum that engages and inspires students for post-secondary opportunities and careers.

The Magnet Programs Expo will introduce the new Achieving Career Equity for Students (ACES) magnet program. At Mirror Lakes Elementary School, Plantation Middle School and Plantation High School, the program will offer aeronautics and engineering, fashion design, and innovative arts. At Oakland Park Elementary School, James S. Rickards Middle School and Northeast High School, ACES includes aviation, cybersecurity and design.

In addition, magnet program options range from aviation, biotechnology, communications and broadcast arts, Montessori, pre-law, pre-med, STEM, marine science, International Baccalaureate, performing and visual arts, technical academies and so much more. These are just a few examples of the many school choice options available with magnet programs.

Parents may apply for their child to attend a magnet program for the 2024/25 school year during the school choice application window, December 1, 2023 – February 2, 2024.
