Blues coach Michael Voss has praised his club’s smaller forwards for their efforts in their 56-point win over North Melbourne today.

Voss said it was easy to praise key forwards Harry McKay (five goals) and Charlie Curnow (four goals) but he saw big things for others in the side.

“The story for mine was the way we shared the load,” Voss said.

“When you look at the ground level players, we put a fair bit of energy into how they bring the ball out of the back half and our smalls went to work.

“They were particularly impressive. Not only did they get the job done defensively. They kicked some goals as well. We had 11 goal kickers.

“If you look at the stat sheet, they weren’t massive numbers but everyone took their turn when they needed to.”

Voss said Curnow was taken off with a few minutes to go with an ankle injury.

“He did roll his ankle and come off the ground but there was four minutes on the clock, so we thought we would park him,” Voss said.

“He didn’t fight me too much on it, when Charlie doesn’t fight me too hard, then I know he is happy to put the cue in the rack.”
