Although many people believe that having a private school school education is better, I am very satisfied with the education I have received from BCPS. Going to a magnet high school has allowed me to pursue my interest in theatre without the expense of private school and the community within my school is very welcoming and supportive.
The academics at my school at exceptional as that is what we are known for. Baltimore County has always cared about the academics at each school but as well as the students and their mental health. I feel as thought Baltimore County, especially my school prepares its students for college. The best part about my school would be the teachers who are easy to connect with and get along with. Without them, I wouldn't be the student I am today. Baltimore County does a good job with hiring teachers that are beneficial for all students. I wouldn't say I've had a worst experience with Baltimore County, I would just like to see perhaps the work policy be changed. Students sometimes have a lot on their plate and sometimes it might be difficult to get it all done. I feel like something must be created to allow students to not feel so stressed to get all their work done from their multiple classes.
Overall, I will say my experience in Baltimore County schools are more good than bad. Some of the best things are the diversity and culture. I have learned a lot about many different cultures and have even picked up on Spanish at Parkville High School. The janitors do a good job at my school to keep it clean. The only issues I would say is the school is definitely overpopulated. It's very hard to get to class in the 5 minute passing period with the amount of people. Luckily, teachers are very lenient about this since they know how hectic the hallways can get. We also have high skip rates at our school which I want to see change.
