Yara Shahidi And Natalie Portman Star In Dior’s Forever Foundation Campaign

This article is more than 2 years old.

Dior Beauty’s Forever Foundation is inclusive for all skin types

Released today, the new Forever Foundation exudes sisterhood, diversity, and community- things the Parisian house has striven have at the root of the brand. Reinvented from Dior’s 2007 first-high coverage foundation, Dior Forever from its inception combines long wear with skincare so that women can feel comfortable. It combines the work of botanists and Peter Philips, the Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup. The former has inherited Mr. Christian Dior’s passion for flowers, and the latter has color experience and makeup techniques.

“Forever is fifteen years of obsession with perfection, fifteen years of love for and from women, a companion product that strengthens self-confidence on a daily basis,” notes Dior Beauty in a statement.

Actresses Yara Shahidi and Natalie Portman are the face of Forever’s new generation campaign. Portman, an Academy Award-winning acress has been a Dior ambassador since 2011 when she was the face of Miss Dior. And Black-ish star Yara Shahidi has been known to wear Dior, a lot. Who can forget her Kelly-green Dior gown at last year’s Emmy’s. This is Shahidi’s first campaign for the house, as last week she was named Dior’s Global Brand Ambassador.

Recognizing that the needs of women change and that their desires evolve, Dior has transformed the foundation. This new reinvention in the Forever saga includes longer wear, more skincare, and a cleaner formula.

“15 years feels like an eternity, and at the same time, we could almost believe that it was yesterday. The new formula is at the heart skincare and the floral aspect plays an essential role, without compromising its original qualities. On the contrary, this new generation also provides even better performance,” says Philips.

Part of the new transformation is an updated transfer-proof and life-proof wear. The foundation is resistant to heat, humidity, stress, and signs of fatigue. Passing tests of withstanding 91°F and humidity. Dior science has also worked to ensure the makeup’s staying power with the foundation’s structural agents for flexibility and transfer-resistance. The new transfer-proof technology provides clearer complexion that is matte and ultra-long wearing.

In an effort to be more diverse, Philips and his team created forty-three calibrated shades so that every woman can find the right shade for her own skin color. To get the methodology for forty-three crafted shades, Dior worked with 110 women to represent the 110 various skin tones referenced by science. A larger study with 500 women was done that resulted in the foundation perfecting showing women in their best light.

For Dior beauty this Forever foundation sits at the apex of a larger movement for the brand, ensuring that its inclusive for men and women of all ages with any shade of skin color. For all the criticisms that fashion gets, the industry is striving to make gains from former times.
