Tried to like it

I do like most Hallmark movies but this was one of the worst I've ever seen. I do like Kavan from "When Calls the Heart". But what was he thinking with this one? There are two childbirths in this movie and both were so unbelievable. And what's with the police officer hassling Julia about not having proper insurance? That was just plain ridiculous. Nope....I can not recommend this movie.

It's silly but heartwarming. As a mom, I saw all the mistakes but, so what?

It's fluff and fun. I've watched 100's of romcom movies and I enjoyed this one. Kavan Smith is always enjoyable and he was realistic as a father. If you simply want to enjoy a cute love story with children and a single father, have fun. It's nothing more than that. I watch Hallmark movies to take mr away and that's what you get with this movie, despite how silly at some points. Enjoy.

Cute movie

This was a cute movie. It was family appropriate with no bad language that I heard. While the labors were slightly unrealistic, nothing was actually shown. It was a decent movie overall and I would definitely recommend it at least to watch once :) James Welch Henderson, Arkansas. 4/19/2021.

Awful is putting it mildly

I do not mind feel good movies but this takes the cake!! What with the extreme weather conditions of past weekend, like most, was stuck at home bored when this movie came up and with nothing better on the menu, decided to watch half heartedly. Started okayish but predictable as most of these movies but still carried on. A trainer who worked as a baby sitter on the side. A 12yr old could have done a better job than the lead Daneele's character here and did not seem relatable as I could not believe a grown woman no matter her age, would be that idiotic especially, when looking after a child. I do not have a child but have seen and heard enough and most importantly, intelligent enough to know that you do not leave a child by the beach or in a park etc unattended. You get the gist. Feel good man gets the girl and everyone lives happily ever after but the reality is, you will have to be an idiot of a man to trust such an air-headed woman with your children. I have rated this movie a 1 as there was no redeeming feature in it.

fork in the tofu
SnoopyStyle14 September 2020
Julia Penman (Danneel Ackles) runs an illegal fitness class at the park for moms trying to lose their baby weight. It's her 30th birthday and her sister throws her a party. She's single and hates getting set up. She's considering adoption although she's not really a baby person. She's broke. Widower Scott (Kavan Smith) shows up for her class with baby Mattie. He's overwhelmed at work and needs a nanny. His older daughter Charlotte is concerned with the newcomer.

Ackles and Smith are perfectly bland romantic leads for the Hallmark crowd. There is a moment in the movie when it could have become something compelling. It's the tofu dinner. The problem with Julia is that she's a little superficial and she's gaga over Scott for surface reasons. She could have developed something really deep with Charlotte. The fact that she missed Charlotte's cry for help only adds to that superficiality. Instead, the movie makes it Charlotte's flaw to be fixed. It's an opportunity to show Julia's motherly instincts but the movie missed it. In the end, these are perfectly adequate actors and characters in this type of movie. It could have been more.

Quite silly and predictable, but ok to watch

Warning: Spoilers
The plot is very predictable as most romantic movies, but that didn't bother me to watch anyway. The most annoying thing for me was that there were two childbirths in this movie and both were so unbelievable that it really annoyed me. Main character knows nothing about kids but surely can successfully help give birth. Both times babies come out like 5 minutes after contractions start which actually made me angry cause every mom knows it takes HOURS for the baby to come out... you dont just have contractions for 5 minutes and then whoosh the baby is out.

Potential but....

Warning: Spoilers
Eh....

First the cat n mouse subplot of a disgruntled 7year old trying to keep a budding romance from blossoming is an overused plot device but this one was done to death to the point of annoyance. You don't want viewers hating a 7year old and that's exactly what this Hallmark film did.

Other than that it had really good standard elements as far as hallmark films go but unfortunately couldn't get out of its own way.
