Just back from 4 days in Prague staying at The Augustine Hotel.
Hotel is situated in a great location for exploring the city and approximately 20 minutes walk to the city centre.
Hotel itself was excellent on all levels. The rooms and decor were well appointed and our room was very spacious.
We had breakfast each morning at the hotel, and it was a sumptuous meal with a large choice of meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals and fruit. As well as a large selection, the food was also fresh and good quality. There was even a huge piece of fresh honeycomb, that was messy to serve but worth the effort!
We had drinks at the Refectory Bar on a couple of evenings and this is a very tranquil room, that is ideal for relaxing after a hard day of sightseeing.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and courteous although we didn't really use any of the hotel facilities.
All in all a great hotel, that ticks every box for a perfect stay in Prague.

We stayed at The Augustine during the Prague extension part of our Viking cruise on the Danube. Such a stunning conversion of the old monastery! (Part of the building still is an Augustinian monastery.)
At check-in, we were asked if we wanted to upgrade from a "classic" room, and the manager was able to suggest a room with a view of the courtyard, for very little extra money. We took it, and it was beautiful...fabulous bathroom, tall windows, separate small office area.
COVID has meant that the highly rated Augustine restaurant is not open, except for the included breakfast buffet, which is amazing. But the Refectory Bar serves a limited menu, all delicious, along with its premium cocktails (try the John Star Martini). The Spa, which normally offers a wide range of services, is also for now only offering massage and the use of the sauna and steam rooms, by appointment.
This is for guests' safety, and we completely understood. I had an excellent massage, and my friend luxuriated in the steam room.
Staff was welcoming, helpful and went the extra mile for us, even making sure we had a taxi waiting for a return trip from a restaurant in another area of Prague.
We would absolutely stay at The Augustine again, and if you enjoy unique luxury hotels, you will love it.

We are staying here for 3 nights. The hotel appears partially mothballed, which is understandable in the current circumstances. However, if the hotel is to operate as a 5* hotel at pre Covid prices it needs to do much better. The standard of the bedding and bathroom towels are more travel lodge than luxury. We went to the champagne bar and were told they were out of champagne. We tried to order a drink to our room and were told room service stopped at 10pm for all food and drink (and no one had stocked the mini bar). Just all a bit sad considering the high cost of the suite we booked (the view was good at least). We were going to stay at the Mandarin Oriental as we’d stayed their before (it is nearby) but tried a change - which we now regret. The Mandarin is definitely better if you are coming to Prague. The two stars is a net score - the view from the tower suite is 5 stars but the service gets zero and standard of room furnishing gets a one.

It may seem harsh to give this hotel only 2 stars since our stay was 75% a 5 star experience but hear me out. After checking in and leaving promptly to enjoy our first evening in Prague, upon our return, we realized during the late evening and very early morning that we were placed in a room where the tram runs right outside the window, and we figured that out because the ENTIRE room vibrates when the tram runs by, so much so that the metal lamp clinked as well. And the tram runs pretty often, multiple times each hour except for 4-5 hours in the middle of the night. We reported it to the front desk and were able to move to another room. The next morning, while waiting in the lobby for our friends, we heard a similar complaint by another guest, who was unable to be relocated and decided to check out. Both times, the front desk expressed surprise and dismay at the comments. Then, when we check out, they again comment that they were sorry we ran into an issue that first night and comment that it doesn't bother some people, that it's like white noise. I cannot believe they were still trying to GASLIGHT us into believing anyone would find this room acceptable. There is no way this is like white noise, when it makes the entire room jiggle. (And since many people have asked when I share the story, no, the hotel did not offer to comp or discount us for the one night.)

We've come to the conclusion that the hotel is running a SCAM. They know how awful the room/s is/are and sell the stays anyway, with no warning upon check in and then they act surprised when guests report it as an issue. On top of the discomfort of the first night's sleep, we and the other inconvenienced guest that we witnessed had our stays disrupted to pack and repack to move rooms/hotels. They clearly do not care enough about their customers and that's the primary point for us when we choose to stay at a luxury grade hotel. Although we enjoyed the rest of our stay, we would not stay at this hotel again. They showed us their true colors.

Dear EhPaC, Thank you very much for sharing with us a review on your recent stay at Augustine Prague. We value both negative and positive feedback as it allow us to improve our services. I am sorry to read, you have experienced difficulties during the night due to the tram noise. We would be certainly happy to move you to another room, if we had the vacancy. Unfortunately, as the hotel is located in the very center of Prague we can not influence the traffic noise. However, we are happy to share that just recently the public transport company did few repairs and the noise is much lighter now. I understand the quite nights are crucial for your stay in Prague. Please accept my apology, that we did not offer you any compensation. For you next stay it would be my pleasure to offer you upgrade to a Deluxe Room, which is located in the Monastery Building with a truly tranquil atmosphere. I hope you could enjoy the other services in our hotel such as hotel breakfast or spa. Warm regards, Mario Egger, General Manager

We selected this hotel for our Viking Cruises post-extension following a Danube Cruise; it was well worth it for the extra charge to be in such a great location. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and the room was huge. The breakfast room was pleasant with a nice variety, and the outdoor patio was a nice place for a drink or lunch. The only possible drawback was that our room backed up to the street where the trams run night and day, and we could hear the rumbling of the tracks, even through the thick old monastery walls. The Charles Bridge is just a 5-10 minute walk away, and we could be in the Old Town Square in less than 20 minutes.

Dear JillClardy, Thank you very much for choosing Augustine, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Prague and finding time to write such a nice review. We very much appreciate your detailed review. Augustine team always tries to provide something extra for each of our guests, so we are happy that you could experience our five-stars servis during your visit of Prague. Since we are located right in the heart of Prague, some some sounds of public transport can be slightly heard in the rooms facing the street. We really hope that this fact does not disturb your comfort and tranquility of your bedroom. On the other hand, thanks to this location you had an opportunity to enjoy the most significant sights of Prague in a few minutes. At Augustine, it is very important for us to build guest relationships for life, so we truly hope, that we will be able to welcome you back in the future as well. Until that, I wish you all the best! This is the perfect place to stay and to be with in walking distance of so many wonderful must visit sites in Prague, and if you need or want the trams, they go right by and you can hop on no problem. A luxury hotel, that also felt cozy and homey. Breakfast was large and varied. The housekeeping staff, left our room spotless and added so many little extra touches arranging and tidying up. Thank you so much. Reception staff attentive and helpful. We had a lot of questions, they were so patient. The restaurant is a little expensive, but with that said, the best hamburger I have ever had, I could not believe it. I am in Prague having a perfect burger. Had the burger twice, my husband had the fish, which he quite enjoyed. If you want atmosphere and to be pampered this is the place. To management, thank you for having wonderful people, one suggestion, please consider keeping the spa area open a little later we never got back to hotel before 8pm to enjoy the services, maybe 9 or 9:30pm.

This hotel is very luxurious and the location is fantastic. Our room had castle views, spectacular both day and night, and you are but a few blocks from both Hradcany and Charles Bridge. The bathrooms are very large and luxurious, with an oversized tub and heated marble floors. The bed was king-sized and had wonderful soft linens. Breakfast was unbelievable, with a full-English, pastries, fruit, as well as egg dishes cooked to order. The staff was so kind and helpful in every way.

One thing to bear in mind: the gym space is not worthy of such a magnificent resort, there's not much equipment or space.

The hotel is located in a perfectly restored, beautiful monastery just off the main square on the castle side of the river. Valet parking is available on the grounds. The setting, behind monastery walls, is tranquil despite being in the center of Prague. Check in is in a skylight lit lobby and the beautiful rooms are along ancient, wide hallways. Our room had a large bedroom, a separate, spacious entry hall, and a large bathroom with a shower and a separate bathtub. The view was into the monks’ private garden walled on the other side by their church. The walls are very thick and we did not hear a sound from outside our room during our stay.

The unique bar is set in the monks’ former refectory and, along with an excellent choice of cocktails and dishes, serves the monastery’s own beer. It is a treat that is also offered daily during beer tasting in the afternoon and, if you miss the tasting, the hotel staff kindly leave a few bottles of the delicious beer (along with a pretzel and sausages) in your room.

The hotel has its own excellent chef/restaurant and the concierge was very helpful in arranging a dinner for us at a river-side restaurant on our second night.

I highly recommend the Augustine and we will be back!

Truly lovely stay at the Augustine ,the hotel is an oasis of calm from the moment you walk in .The service wherever you go in the hotel is exceptional, nothing is too much trouble, which we have experienced in previous Luxury collection hotels .
We had a lovely upgrade to an amazing room 229,which overlooked a lovely little courtyard, that was very quiet and even with the windows open we slept better than at home .
The hotel throughout is beautiful and very peaceful ,the bar is very unique and really enjoyed the specialist beer .
Breakfast was wide choice of items and also specialist items could be made for you ,we even asked for items not visible that was fetched for us .
A mention to Libor in the restaurant who looked after us each day at breakfast, ensured we had whatever we needed and had a lovely nature as did all the staff we encountered within the hotel .
The hotel is located within walking distance of all sights ,20 minutes maximum to the old town ,we found a nice route each day to ensure we always came back across the Charles bridge which is literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel .The castle/ cathedral sit on the hill behind the hotel and again very easy to walk too, through some beautiful little streets on the way . Other 5 star hotels were in much noisier busier areas .
I’m sure we will return to this beautiful city and would not stay anywhere else .
Amazing Augustine and Thank You for a wonderful stay.

Truly exceptional experience at the Augustine from the minute we walked through the door. Beautiful hotel, located a short walk to Charles Bridge and Old Town. We chose a castle view room which gave fantastic views across to Prague Castle. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and made the stay even more special. Breakfast choice was huge and food at the hotel was excellent. Try the beer brewed within the monastery, or visit the bar underneath the hotel!

The room we had was very large, super clean with a huge bed, a great mix of new modern styling with old wooden beams. Deserves all of the great reviews this hotel gets.
