We stayed at the Augustine Hotel for a couple nights and had an excellent stay after we changed rooms (see below). The location of the hotel is great and is very easy to walk to the Old town square, Charles bridge, Prague castle, and many Christmas markets. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and had great charm as a former monastery. Originally our room was near the front of the hotel where there are some train tracks. Unfortunately, trams would run by the hotel every few minutes causing a lot of noise and rumbling and driving us crazy. After complaining to the hotel reception, the staff were able to move us to a room in the back of the hotel away from the tracks. The new room was smaller, but very quiet and cozy and had a nice view of the Prague castle. The bathroom had heated floors and heated towel warmers which were very appreciated in Dec. Complimentary still and sparking water was provided and replenished daily. We were also pleasantly surprised to see the room service provided a plate of Christmas cookies during our stay.

This historical building, once a monastery, is in a perfect location for the ones that love to explore a city like Prague on foot. During my stay I booked a suite supposedly with a castle view but you could only see a tiny part of the castle ( disappointing). The room was spacious and with a lot of furniture for clothes and luggage. I ha d the opportunity to have lunch and dinner at the restaurant and I was not disappointed. Also the burgers are delicious. In my opinion the service could have been more professional in certain situations but was generally good.

Located next/ part of a beautiful monastery which is still home for a few monks. Ask for a short tour in this most beautiful and full of character property. For hotel guests and upon request there is hidden access to the monastery via internal door which in my view has a special charm and creates special experience for adults and kids alike. Staff is very friendly and helpful, easy going and always willing to provide you with good advise. Try the St Thomas beer which used to be brewed on site and most loved by local royalties. Not sure if it is still brewed on site but either way highly recommended and a ‘must-try’ in my view. Quite and classy location a few min walk from Kafka Museum, beautiful gardens to the left of the main hotel entrance ( perhaps 100 m walk) where we experienced a beautiful outdoor afternoon concert. Also close to Charles Bridge and the Castle but still hidden a bit from the crowded centre - perfect location in my view. Try suite 235 very specious and with beautiful overview of the monastery garden. Ordered light dinner as a room service but had a chance to communicate with the chef directly that prepared exactly what and how we wanted it ( not part of the menu). We are not easy when it comes to food - has to be light with a lot of vegetables to match a specific diet. So kind of him. No doubt will visit again when next in Prague.

Dear Leviha, Thank you very much for your visit and your outstanding and detailed review! It is true that the Augustine Hotel is directly connected to St. Thomas church and I am happy to know that you had a chance to visit it, as this is something truly unique our hotel can offer. And of course the St. Thomas beer, I am glad you tried it! It is brewed in a local brewery outside of Prague exclusively for our hotel and you can try this beer only at our bar. Thank you for recognizing our location and staff, we truly appreciate it! Leviha, we hope to see you again at the Augustine in the nearest future! Warm regards, Mario Egger, General Manager

We have just returned home to Dublin following a short four night stay in the Augustine Hotel. It was your first visit to Prague and was a memorable experience. As has already been said by previous reviewers, the physical location of the hotel is ideal for anyone wishing to explore the city of Prague. In our view, what made the Augustine stand was the sheer quality of the hotel itself and the attentive, supportive staff. The bedrooms are all immaculately clean and very well appointed. The bathrooms are large and the beds were very cofortable. The breakfast buffet is complimented with a waiter service - we thought it was excellent. There was no excessive traffic noise at night from trams or cars. The staff in the hotel are very professional and attentive - we had particularly outstanding support from Pavol at the front desk who helped make our stay at the Augustine all the more enjoyable. Our only (minor) issue with the hotel was the comparatively high cost of eating in the hotels' bar and restaurant (for lunch or dinner) but that was to be expected given the quality of the establishment. The Augustine will be on our list for our next visit.

Because that’s what it is: a very good hotel. The location is excellent, a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge and the Castle, but just off the tourist track and easy to reach by car (with on site or valet parking, at a price) The lay out of the hotel is very spacious and reflects its history as a monastery: wide corridors, large rooms, huge bathrooms (at least to European standards), broad staircases. Rooms and suites are light, comfortable, clean and very well equiped. Staff is very friendly and very efficient. The breakfast buffet offers ample choice. The hotel has a small but nice gym/spa, a good restaurant and a fine bar with a monastic touch. The overall impression is remarkably quiet and serene: a perfect escape from the crowds of tourists that overflow the main attractions of this city, only a few meters away, but actually very much in tune with the atmosphere of Old Prague that’s still there if you care to step off the beaten track. No room for improvement? Perhaps, if I’d mention something like finding only one bathrobe in a room with two guests. It’s trivial and it could happen everywhere, but it should not happen in a five star hotel. All in all: a very good choice if you want value for money without surprises.

Just back from 4 days in Prague staying at The Augustine Hotel. Hotel is situated in a great location for exploring the city and approximately 20 minutes walk to the city centre. Hotel itself was excellent on all levels. The rooms and decor were well appointed and our room was very spacious. We had breakfast each morning at the hotel, and it was a sumptuous meal with a large choice of meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals and fruit. As well as a large selection, the food was also fresh and good quality. There was even a huge piece of fresh honeycomb, that was messy to serve but worth the effort! We had drinks at the Refectory Bar on a couple of evenings and this is a very tranquil room, that is ideal for relaxing after a hard day of sightseeing. All the staff we encountered were friendly and courteous although we didn't really use any of the hotel facilities. All in all a great hotel, that ticks every box for a perfect stay in Prague.

We stayed at The Augustine during the Prague extension part of our Viking cruise on the Danube. Such a stunning conversion of the old monastery! (Part of the building still is an Augustinian monastery.) At check-in, we were asked if we wanted to upgrade from a "classic" room, and the manager was able to suggest a room with a view of the courtyard, for very little extra money. We took it, and it was beautiful...fabulous bathroom, tall windows, separate small office area. COVID has meant that the highly rated Augustine restaurant is not open, except for the included breakfast buffet, which is amazing. But the Refectory Bar serves a limited menu, all delicious, along with its premium cocktails (try the John Star Martini). The Spa, which normally offers a wide range of services, is also for now only offering massage and the use of the sauna and steam rooms, by appointment. This is for guests' safety, and we completely understood. I had an excellent massage, and my friend luxuriated in the steam room. Staff was welcoming, helpful and went the extra mile for us, even making sure we had a taxi waiting for a return trip from a restaurant in another area of Prague. We would absolutely stay at The Augustine again, and if you enjoy unique luxury hotels, you will love it.

We are staying here for 3 nights. The hotel appears partially mothballed, which is understandable in the current circumstances. However, if the hotel is to operate as a 5* hotel at pre Covid prices it needs to do much better. The standard of the bedding and bathroom towels are more travel lodge than luxury. We went to the champagne bar and were told they were out of champagne. We tried to order a drink to our room and were told room service stopped at 10pm for all food and drink (and no one had stocked the mini bar). Just all a bit sad considering the high cost of the suite we booked (the view was good at least). We were going to stay at the Mandarin Oriental as we’d stayed their before (it is nearby) but tried a change - which we now regret. The Mandarin is definitely better if you are coming to Prague. The two stars is a net score - the view from the tower suite is 5 stars but the service gets zero and standard of room furnishing gets a one.

It may seem harsh to give this hotel only 2 stars since our stay was 75% a 5 star experience but hear me out. After checking in and leaving promptly to enjoy our first evening in Prague, upon our return, we realized during the late evening and very early morning that we were placed in a room where the tram runs right outside the window, and we figured that out because the ENTIRE room vibrates when the tram runs by, so much so that the metal lamp clinked as well. And the tram runs pretty often, multiple times each hour except for 4-5 hours in the middle of the night. We reported it to the front desk and were able to move to another room. The next morning, while waiting in the lobby for our friends, we heard a similar complaint by another guest, who was unable to be relocated and decided to check out. Both times, the front desk expressed surprise and dismay at the comments. Then, when we check out, they again comment that they were sorry we ran into an issue that first night and comment that it doesn't bother some people, that it's like white noise. I cannot believe they were still trying to GASLIGHT us into believing anyone would find this room acceptable. There is no way this is like white noise, when it makes the entire room jiggle. (And since many people have asked when I share the story, no, the hotel did not offer to comp or discount us for the one night.) We've come to the conclusion that the hotel is running a SCAM. They know how awful the room/s is/are and sell the stays anyway, with no warning upon check in and then they act surprised when guests report it as an issue. On top of the discomfort of the first night's sleep, we and the other inconvenienced guest that we witnessed had our stays disrupted to pack and repack to move rooms/hotels. They clearly do not care enough about their customers and that's the primary point for us when we choose to stay at a luxury grade hotel. Although we enjoyed the rest of our stay, we would not stay at this hotel again. They showed us their true colors.

Dear EhPaC, Thank you very much for sharing with us a review on your recent stay at Augustine Prague. We value both negative and positive feedback as it allow us to improve our services. I am sorry to read, you have experienced difficulties during the night due to the tram noise. We would be certainly happy to move you to another room, if we had the vacancy. Unfortunately, as the hotel is located in the very center of Prague we can not influence the traffic noise. However, we are happy to share that just recently the public transport company did few repairs and the noise is much lighter now. I understand the quite nights are crucial for your stay in Prague. Please accept my apology, that we did not offer you any compensation. For you next stay it would be my pleasure to offer you upgrade to a Deluxe Room, which is located in the Monastery Building with a truly tranquil atmosphere. I hope you could enjoy the other services in our hotel such as hotel breakfast or spa. Warm regards, Mario Egger, General Manager

We selected this hotel for our Viking Cruises post-extension following a Danube Cruise; it was well worth it for the extra charge to be in such a great location. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and the room was huge. The breakfast room was pleasant with a nice variety, and the outdoor patio was a nice place for a drink or lunch. The only possible drawback was that our room backed up to the street where the trams run night and day, and we could hear the rumbling of the tracks, even through the thick old monastery walls. The Charles Bridge is just a 5-10 minute walk away, and we could be in the Old Town Square in less than 20 minutes.
