Stephen Colbert voted Maxim's 69th 'hottest woman' (ahead of Christina Hendricks and Pippa Middleton) thanks to aggressive write-in campaign
He's a talk-show host mascarading as a conservative blowhard. He has become a political activist and even attempted a run for the White House. And now, Stephen Colbert can count himself as one of the world's sexiest women.
Yes, women.
Thanks to an aggressive write-in campaign by his loyal fans, Colbert was voted number 69 on Maxim's 2012 Hot 100 list.
Sexy: Maybe it was Colbert's taste in tight-fitting, slinky clothes that got him recognized. He's seen here at the 2010 Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear
The REAL beauty: Colbert is seen here with his wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert, who is a closer fit to the Maxim Hot 100 list
He came in just below former Disney pop princess Miley Cyrus and just above Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery.
Astonishingly, he also beat out Christina Hedricks, the sultry ginger-haired secretary from Mad Men (who ranked 77), and Pippa Middleton, the show-stealing sister of the Duchess of Cambridge (who came in at number 81).
'Democracy isn't always pretty: Sometimes it's downright handsome. With a massive write-in vote campaign, the Colbert Nation proved they're not only loyal but also incredibly horny,' Maxim said in its citation.
This isn't the first time Colbert has relied on his vans to help him turn a longstanding 'institution' on its head.
Can Colbert to THEM? The comedian ranked higher this year than Christina Hendricks (number 77), the sultry secretary from Mad Men, and Pippa Middleton (number 81), the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge
In 2008, he tried to run for president in South Carolina first on the Republican, then on the Democratic ticket.
In 2012, when he tried the stunt again, he actually led presidential Candidate Jon Huntsman in one poll.
His main focus for the 2012 primary season though, was founding the Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow Super PAC, which he used to run nonsensical campaign ads in key states.
The stunt was intended to shed light on the dubious sources of money for Super PACs, which have pumped money into the presidential campaign.
Colbert, 48, doesn't quite fit the mold of the other award winners.
The hottest woman this year is Bar Rafaeli, an Israeli supermodel. Second place is Oliva Munn, the nerdy-girl comedian and actress, followed by actress Mila Kunis.
