Arts High School Reviews
Rating 3.84 out of 5 200 reviews
Initially arriving at Arts High School I was extremely scared and nervous. Due to my prior experiences in school I would experience bullying, hence my fear of school and large places. At arts I realized there were a lot of people with similar experiences to me, while also enjoying the same hobby/career field in the arts. At arts I found bonds within the small group of friends, helping and uplifting each other to grow emotionally and academically. I found safety within social worker Mr. Sean Lovell, as I had mental health struggles throughout my high school years, he would help to have my time accommodated and would guide me through difficult times. Mr. Sean Lovell was able to provide the school a sensory room for any student to wind down mentally, within my community and school in Newark there is growth and arts.
The way the curriculum was set up did not at all prepare students for college, it was really simple and never challenged the students to their best ability. Overall the school as a whole was a good school, it was just the academics that failed the students in a way of not really preparing them to study or giving them the resources to study. Good school.
Arts high school has different majors such as vocal, Visual arts, Instrumental, Dance, Drama and TV production. Best part of my school is having friends from different majors and learning different things or perspectives from each other based on our major. Worst parts would probably be the school lunch. Either from that I really love arts I've learnt alot more about music being a vocal major and its been a great experience.
