What travelers are saying
- MorwensCatLancaster, PA165 contributionsThis is a gem of a nature preserve. I have been here every time I visit the Dayton/Springfield area, which has been many, many times over the years. It never disappoints, never loses its charm, never loses its ability to engage my interest.
This is not a manicured park. The paths are often rough, interrupted by tree roots and rocks, sometimes going up or down. There are two ways in: one via a very long set of stone steps (without railing) and one via a winding path. Both go down into the gorge.
Over the decades I have been visiting Glen Helen changes have been made. It is gratifying to see that these changes have been without negatively impacting the integrity of the environment.
One of the additions, and I have no idea when it was created, is the wooden walkway through the wetland/marsh area. If you walk quietly and pay attention to the water & the plant life on either side you can see fish, frogs, and a multitude of flyers in the dragonfly family.
In the woods you may see deer and woodpeckers.
There are a number of waterfalls, the most notable are from the springs that tint the rocks yellow-orange.
This is a woodland you can visit over and over again, choosing a short walk or spending hours.
There is a fee to park.Written August 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The trail was well taken care of, and it was nice to have an indoor center for education and facilities break. Hikers can take the Gorge and the Rim trail to get it from different perspectives. Clifton Mills is close by for food and shopping. We will make another visit in the future.Written October 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Gwen GChillicothe, OH245 contributionsA previous review says the goats are gone, not sure where they were the day that they were there but there were lots of goats. We fed the goats and petted them, also visited with some of the Jersey cows. We even saw the cows in the barn waiting to be milked. We had cheese curds and ice cream. The service was fast and friendly. It was cold and icky outside so we did not partake of any other activities, but would like to come back on a warm day for those.Written December 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kim LConroe, TX4 contributionsWhile visiting my daughter in Beavercreek, we stopped by Yellow Springs to shop. I'd seen several reviews about this brewery and wanted to check it out. Personally, I am not a "real" beer drinker and often find it hard to find something I enjoy when visiting a brewery. Thankfully, this location had two selections that were outstanding - Captain Stardust and Bear Tamer. Both were crisp, light and had a citrus flare.. delicious!Written November 3, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KGC307Charleston, SC121 contributionsWe visited during their spring series to see JAWS. We can’t wait to return to this comfortable, clean and intimate theater. The staff at concessions were so helpful and enthusiastic. I appreciate the extensive menu including alcoholic beverages, commitment to the environment with reusable drink ware and inclusive all gender restrooms. Consider supporting this 501 (c)(3) on your next date night. “You’re not going to need a bigger…theater.”Written June 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
