So far Antioch College has been an experience, whether good or bad it all balances out. Although there are some things that need to improve like infrastructure, it doesn't take away from the available resources and opportunities. Overall the campus life has been lively and there's always something new every single day. I enjoy it for its flaws and its strengths!
This school is extremely poor and being a student here, you can tell. School meals are rubbish, many students with dietary restrictions can't eat the food they serve. There is no school nurse, so unpredictable illness must be treated at a hospital or urgent care which is not within walking distance and must drive at least 15 minutes to the closest urgent care. Students living on campus are charged unnecessary fines for issues in their rooms that are out of their control; the Birch Hall has water damage, leaving many rooms with mold. One student had lived in their room for a whole term with the ceiling covered in mold. Another left after one term in 2022 because they got mold poisoning.
The teachers care. Administration is always changing: nothing feels stable here. The party scene was essentially shut down and the student center, a student run space, is no longer a space for students to have fun without getting reprimanded. Too many restrictions for students who are mostly adults.

When I graduated I felt an overwhelming sense of confidence to go out into the world and take on anything. My co-ops prepared me for the world of work in a way that I wouldn't have imagined. I worked all over the world including in Japan before I graduated. I first got interested in Antioch because it was known as a politically left-leaning school and I knew I wanted to make a difference. I also wanted to push back against the status quo and Antioch gave me the tools to articulate my politics in a way I didn't anticipate. This happened in the classroom but the students I studied with helped me develop politically and I've used this to make a difference in my community and my workplace.
