How do I remove yellow highlights from a word document?

I am using a template from a colleague who has highlighted certain aspects of the document.  I am unable to remove the yellow highlights as I am retyping my info.

Thanks!

Answer
The yellow coloring most certainly can be removed, but how to do so depends on how it was applied -- there are several distinct possibilities.

  1. Select one of the passages then go to the Home tab of the Ribbon. In the Font group click the right edge of the Text Highlight Color button & select None.
  2. With the insertion point in the marked paragraph go to Format> Borders & Shading. On the Shading page choose No Fill, confirm that the correct choice is selected in the Apply to: list.

If neither removes the coloring please provide as much additional detail as possible... A more explicit description of what the coloring is applied to would be helpful. Also, see if there are any Styles [listed in the Styles palette of the Toolbox] that might be responsible for the formatting.
