SANTA ANA – The 19 members of the 2006-07 Orange County grand jury, who will serve as a watchdog of county government and consider criminal indictments, were selected by random drawing Tuesday.

The panel includes nearly one-third minority representation. Ages of the new grand jurors range from 47 to 82, averaging 66. Nine alternate grand jurors were also selected by random drawing.

Orange County Superior Court personnel recruited applicants by speaking at organization functions and appearing on Spanish- and Vietnamese-language television and radio stations. Flyers were distributed to 1,190 companies and 111 minority organizations.

The new grand jurors and three of the alternates will be sworn in at a ceremony in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana on July 3.

Members of the new grand jury are:

Roland Esquivel, Jon Penn, Charles Morse, Arvid Musgrave, Lawrence Callahan, Raoul Silva, Howard Mirowitz, Linda McCoppin, Fortunato Rivera, Lynn Bonas, Jo Anne Simon, James Kristy, Eula Nelson, Jose Sanchez, George Wyne, David Kasabo, Helena Rutkowski, Richard K. Kaufman and Stephen Livingston.

The nine grand jury alternates are:

Kenneth Skolyan, Wayne Wartenberg, Phillip Eaton, Robert Young, Wanda Shaffer, Amelia Arizmendez, James White, Marcia Russo and Ken Wright.
