The first big surprise couple of 2022 has arrived, and they actually secretly began dating over a year ago. People broke the news yesterday that Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader have been together for over a year. The two worked together on Disney+'s 2019 film Noelle. Multiple sources came forward to talk about the pair to People and Entertainment Tonight.
A source told People, “Anna has been dating Bill quietly for over a year. They met years ago. She’s hosted Saturday Night Live and they’ve done a movie together, but they got together well after the movie.”
“They are both very private people, and with the pandemic it was easy to keep it quiet,” the source added. “They’re both hysterical so they must keep each other laughing all of the time. She’s really, really happy.”
Entertainment Tonight got additional details from its own source. “Anna and Bill have been dating for a while,” its source said. “They really like each other and share the same sense of humor. They’re both very happy in the relationship and it shows. They have a natural connection.”
Reps for Kendrick and Hader declined to comment to People on the relationship.
Kendrick spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald in May 2020 about her desire to keep her dating life private in an interview about her romantic comedy series Love Life. “Well, as far as keeping it private, it isn’t easy, as you are proving right now,” she said when asked about how she can promote the show while not talking about her own experience. “But that’s just always how it’s been for me.”
She reflected on her romantic history a little, saying, “It was painful at times and I cringed at the way that I, and so many women that I know, dated guys in our early 20s—the way we were so awkward and needy and clingy. Looking back now, it’s like, ‘Oh god, I acted like such a jerk in that relationship.’ Or all the times I didn’t feel strong enough to say, ‘You can’t speak to me that way.’ I’m just so happy that I’m clearer now about what I will accept from people in my life.”
