Okay if You Want Deep Fried

I had greater hopes for dinner here. My husband liked his generous serving of clam strips and fries, and cup of clam chowder. Deep fried seems the way to go here, but I couldn't due to dietary restrictions. My grilled halibut did not have the usual texture or flavor of halibut, and had little seasoning. Disappointing, as halibut is one of my favorite fish, and it was expensive. My side dishes were unremarkable. It does have a nice location on the harbor. A casual environment that would be good for families. You order at a counter, no table service. Prices seem high for what you get, but maybe it's the area? $30 for clam strips and fries with a cup of chowder.

Family favorite and always will be

CLASSIC. Grew up coming to Andria’s when I was younger with my family on road trips up to Ventura and Santa Barbara. Somedays we went on a road trip just to eat here. Best fish and chips and chowder I will ever eat in my life. Love the bread bowls and the 14 piece shrimp. If I ever have the chance to own a restaurant, I hope this is it.

Highly Disappointed

I picked up Andria's for a birthday lunch surprise for my husband and kids. I ordered 2 fish and chips, shrimp (14) and chips, and scallops and chips. It was without a doubt the worst meal I have ever had. Everything was incredibly greasy and had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The shrimp looked like it came straight from a frozen box you would buy at the grocery store. This cost me just shy of $100 and it was completely inedible. I'm highly upset and disappointed.

Fried Seafood No Frills

Decent line that moved quickly. Order at counter and wait for number to be called. Pick up a tray piled high with food and bring back to table. Go back and pick up utensils and condiments. All the fried food we ordered ( fish, scallops, shrimp) was good along with a large pile of fries. Wife and I should have split one meal. Cheesecake she ordered looked good but was overly sweet and neither of us would eat it. Onion ring side order was not allowed as substitute for fries even if paid difference and it was a huge tower of rings. Overall more of a 3.5 than 3 but would not rush back.

Great fish … and local beers!

Andria’s is a Ventura County legend, serving up fresh and fried fish for decades at the edge of the Ventura Harbor. We take out-of-town guests here to give them a taste of Ventura County. We’ve gotten fresh fish when we wanted something healthier and fried fish when we were in the mood for something more decadent. We’ve never had a bad - or even ‘meh’ - meal here. 5+ out of 5! Also want to compliment the owner on the selection of local beers. There were multiple options from Seaward, Made West and a couple of other local breweries. I had a Seaward Night Moves (stout) which was an excellent pairing with my fish & chips. The stout was rich and chocolaty without being too flavor-forward.

Very disappointing

The man who took our order was not very friendly or helpful. The food would be good if you had to have a bland no sodium diet. My husband had the fish and chips and he tried adding salt, pepper, lemon juice, vinegar and hot sauce to it but still not much flavor. The coating was crunchy and the fish was cooked properly, but it was very bland. I had the clam chowder and it too was disappointing. Not many clams and appeared to have too much flour added making it very thick and lacking flavor. I was able to stand my spoon up in it which isn’t a good sign. I added salt, pepper, and even butter but it didn’t help.

Outstanding Fresh Fish

Andria's is a favorite for our family. Haddock, Alaskan Cod, Shrimp, Clams - all of superior quality. Served with either 'chips' or coleslaw it hits the spot when you crave seafood.

Still amazing!!

So Andrea’s has become our go-to fish n chips spot. Amazing taste and quality. We love it and when we brought visiting family over, they loved it too. The price is still reasonable for the portion of fish and chips. The chicken tenders are great too. The slaw is good. We did try the calamari,which was okay - we prefer the calamari rings instead of the strips/rectangles (it was just really dense and we are not used to that). Overall we love this place - keep up the great work.

Food was just ok. We expected more from a play right next to fishing boats. Food tasted frozen and was just average. Clam chowder was pretty bad - mostly potatoes and we couldn't find the clams. We'd not come here again.

Meh! It’s okay.

It was okay. It’s very noisy around the person taking our order and he ended up giving us an extra order. It’s very warm at the tables. It’s open air. Birds fly in and out and eat leftovers off the tables while you’re eating. The cod and chips are good. The halibut is mushy but it’s okay. Had to go back and get tartar sauce a couple times. The little paper cups are tiny. No one busses the tables and people walk off and leave trash but I guess that’s not the manager’s fault. It’s a good place to get your grub and eat it and get out but that’s about it.

Fresh food, no pretense

The line let us know this was probably a good bet. The staff hustles to keep things moving and the food fresh, hot, and delicious. With so many choices, we opted for something simple. Our fish and chips were delicious. Plenty of covered, outdoor seating.

Excellent Clam Chowder Bread Bowl

After visiting the harbor on a very cold night, we decided that a hot bowl of clam chowder is just what we needed. We opted for the bread bowl and it was fantastic. Steaming hot, filled with all the clams, etc. you would hope for. The bread bowl itself was awesome. Also, the shrimp cocktail was fresh and tasty. A great selection of local and domestic beers and wine. Prices were reasonable considering where you are dining.

Disappointing today

My husband and I have been here several times over the past 4 years. Have always enjoyed the fish and chips: hot, tasty, not too greasy. One order is enough for two. Today was very different experience. I had heard great things about the fried calamari, which I ordered. My husband ordered Andria's original fish and chips (our usual order). We arrived shortly before opening. Our food was just warm, the calamari was rubbery, tasteless and difficult to chew. Could not eat it. Fish was dry inside the breading. Very disappointing. Am hoping was an "off" day for restaurant. People who work there seem nice. Not sure if we will return.

Very Good Fresh Fish and Chowder

As soon as we came into town, we ran down to the harbor and hit Andria's. No line. No hassle. Lots of outside patio seating. Fresh, delicious fish & chips, and a really good sourdough chowder bowl. They offer fresh oysters which were just delicious, and their grilled salmon salad was fantastic. Definitely be back as soon as we come back into town.
