Andrew Stewart, 1st Lord Avandale (2nd creation), was born about 1450 -1470) he was the 2nd son of Walter Stewart[1][2][3] and Elizabeth Arnot. He was a younger brother to Alexander Stewart who died about the same time as his father.[1]

He was created 2nd Lord Avandale in 1489.

Andrew Stewart, 1st Lord Avandale (2nd creation) was married to Margaret Kennedy, daughter of John Kennedy, 2nd Lord Kennedy and his wife Lady Elizabeth Gordon, before 4 February 1499/0. They had issue:

  1. Andrew,[1][3] 3rd Lord Avandale & 1st Lord Stewart of Ochiltree. b. after 1499 in Avandale, Lanarkshire Scotland. d. 1548.
  2. Barbara,[1] b. after 1499 in Avandale, Lanarkshire Scotland.
  3. Alexander,[1] b. after 1499 in Avandale, Lanarkshire Scotland.
  4. William,[1] b. after 1499 in Avandale, Lanarkshire Scotland.
  5. Agnes,[1] b. 1499 in Avandale, Lanarkshire Scotland
  6. Anne,[1] b. after 1499 in Avandale Scotland
  7. Henry, 1st Lord Methven,[1][3] b. bt 1495 - 1500, d. a 10 Oct 1551.
  8. Sir James of Beath,[1][3] b. b 1513, d. 2 Jun 1544.

He was killed in action on 9 Sep 1513 at the Battle of Flodden Field, Northumberland, England.[1][3]

Scots Peerage states that this Andrew was grand-nephew of the first Lord, son of Alexander, son of Walter Stewart of Morphie, the brother of the first Lord Avandale. I've added Scots Peerage to the sources. So, according to Balfour Paul, the lineage should be: Stewart-3026, son of Stewart-1634, son of Stewart-15606.

Not sure who Balfour Paul is  ;> but James Paul certainly shows him as the son of Alexander as does the Red Book of Scotland (as seen in the source just added).

Instead of Walter for the Father I think Alexander Stewart is his Father and Walter (Grandfather)
