While she’s largely seen in Bollywood films, Amyra Dastur has had her tryst with south cinema. Just as she enjoys working in Hindi movies, the actress says that she’s had a great time working on her south projects too. From making a debut in Tamil industry with Anegan in 2015 to exploring Telugu cinema with films like Manasuku Nachindi and Raju Gadu, Amyra has tried and tested it all.
In fact her forthcoming film is in Tamil, Bagheera, which stars Prabhudeva. This year the actress has been busy shooting for this psycho-mystery-thriller project.
Ask the Parsi girl, who hails from South Mumbai if she’s been able to grasp Tamil or Telugu over the years while working on the sets and she says, “People there are very sweet they switch to English or even speak in Hindi while communicating with me.”
While she hasn’t been able to grasp the language, on a lighter note, Amyra mentions that a few of her co-stars and crew members have taught her some local cuss words. “It’s hilarious! Many of my colleagues have taught me some quintessential bad words. I use them while talking on the sets and the director of the film gets shocked hearing me speak like that (laughs!). The director starts questioning around as to who’s teaching me all this. ‘Don’t teach her to speak this way!’ they yell (laughs!) It’s really funny!”
With life back on track post the second wave of COVID, Amyra is back to work. The actress has some interesting projects lined up, in the digital space, ahead.
