From Find A Grave: Charles de Montmorency was the son of Jean I, Lord de Montmorency and of Jeanne de Calletot. On the death of his father, he inherited the seigneuries de Montmorency, d'Écouen, de Damville, d'Argentan, de Feuillarde, de Chaumont-en-Vexin, de Vitry en Brie as well as many other place.
He was a Knight, named grand panetier de France of 1336 in 1343 by Philippe de Valois, then was elevated to the dignity of Marshal of France in 1343, Counsellor and Chamberlain of King in 1346 in recognition of his commitment to the roi, and in 1347, captain-general by his Majesty on the borders of Flanders and the sea. In 1347, he resigned his charge of Marshal in favour of his brother-in-law, Édouard de Beaujeus.
Governor of Picardy, he defeated Oudart of Renty in 1348. He was one of those who concluded the Treaty of Bretigny between King of France Philippe VI and that of England, Edward III, may 8, 1360. In 1330, Charles married his first wife Marguerite of Beaujeu, daughter of Guichard VI, Lord of Beaujeu and Dombes and Marguerite de Chatillon. This marriage was without issue.
On January 26, 1341, Paris, Charles married his second wife Jeanne de Roucy, Lady Blazon and Chemillé in Anjou, daughter of count Jean V of Roucy and Marguerite de Beaumetz. From this marriage were born: Jean de Montmorency (? † 24 July 1352); Marguerite de Montmorency (c. 1359 † 21 September 1406), married Robert of Estouteville, Lord of Vallemont; Jeanne of Montmorency, wife of Guy says Brumor de Laval, Lord of Challouyau (?-1383); Marie de Montmorency, Lady of Argentan (? d. 26 February 1372), wife of William of Ivry, baron of Oissery then Jean II, Lord of Châtillon-sur-Marne, grand master of the Queen and captain of the city of Reims hotel In 1362, Charles married his third wife Petronilla or Pappu de Villiers, daughter of Adam dit le Bègue, Lord of Villiers the Sec and Alix de Méry, and niece of Pierre de Villiers, Lord of l'Isle-Adam, grand master of France. From this marriage were born: Charles de Montmorency (1362 † 1369); Jacques of Montmorency (d. 1414); Philippe, killed in 1425 at the battle of Ziric-zee9 or zirixee delivered by Philippe III, Duke of Burgundy against the Dutch; Denise de Montmorency (? † v. 1452) wife in Lancelot Turpin de Crisse 1398, Chamberlain of Charles VI son of Gui V Turpin de Crisse and Marguerite de Thouars.
