Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, which stars Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Sehgal and Sanjeeda Sheikh, is all set to release on Netflix. The makers have finally announced the streaming date. It is slated to release on May 1.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s purported magnum opus Heeramandi finally has a streaming date. Netflix will start streaming the long-awaited series from May 1.

Says an informed source, “Heeramandi is finally ready for streaming from May 1 . They are also seriously considering releasing one episode per week instead of downloading the entire series all at once.”

This project has been a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s consciousness for twenty years. It is the story of a kotha filled with the laughter and sorrow of dazzling beauties of every age . At one point SLB wanted to make it with Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu.

Heeramandi promises to be one of the most dazzling series to be filmed for the digital platform. The opulence, music, dances and lavish production values won’t be compromised by the size of the screen. Everything is in the epic proportion,as much so as SLB’s Devdas.

Although he is on board to officially direct only one episode(the inaugural episode) of his prestigious Netflix series ,Sanjay Leela Bhansali was present on the sets of all the seven episodes to ensure consistent calibre excellence in the presentation.

After Bhansali wrapped up the shooting of the first episode of Heeramandi where Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Rao Hydari and Fardeen Khan participated, all the other episodes were officially directed by Bhansali’s former assistant Mitakshara Kumar.While giving her the creative freedom to direct the episodes as per her vision, Bhansali was on the sets as an overall supervisor , to ensure quality-control.

Produced exclusively for Netflix Heeramandi is the story of a gallery of gorgeous prostitutes whose destinies are intertwined.
