American Horror Story is making up for the announcement that Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will no longer star in the scary series by unveiling an all-star cast with some new and old faces.

The theme for the ninth season of the FX drama horror show is 1984 and Summer Camp, as it previously revealed in a teaser. Little did fans know how much '80s nostalgia they'd be getting in the upcoming season. Hopping on the old-school bandwagon that has made shows like Stranger Things so popular, the '80s costumes and references are strong in this first look at the cast.

Series regulars Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, John Carroll Lynch, and Leslie Grossman will return in new roles alongside Angelica Ross from Pose and Matthew Morrison from Glee, also created by Ryan Murphy.

Series showrunner, Ryan Murphy, shared the first look at the cast and their perfect '80s costumes.

Murphy captioned the first look, "To celebrate the first day of filming the NINTH Season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, here's the official 1984 cast announcement along with some amazing 80s lewks. Enjoy!"

Emma Roberts adorns some classic '80s workout gear, Billie Lourd has massive rock star hair with headbands, Gus Kenworthy is swoonworthy in those athletic shorts and knee-high socks, and Matthew Morrison aka Mr. Schuester from Glee has a massive bulge.

The series recently announced that its release date is way sooner than anticipated.

The cast and crew have begun filming the series' ninth season set to premiere on September 18, just in time for fall. The '80s vibes were apparent even in these first images, but now that the cast has been revealed, the influence is obvious. "We’ll see you soon...," the AHS Instagram account wrote.

This creepy teaser gave off major slasher moods from past '80s horror flicks.

An unidentified girl runs through the woods, chased by a knife-wielding villain. From the new cast's first look it seems that Lynch, who played Twisty the clown in past seasons, could be a strong contender for the slasher character. The cabin she runs into has also been revealed to be a part of the broader theme of the season — summer camp.

Angelica Ross, who has worked with Murphy on FX's Pose, is also joining the cast.

Angelica Ross will be the first trans actor ever to appear in American Horror Story. The star tweeted, "I am ELATED to make history as the first trans actor to secure 2 series regular roles, leaping from #PoseFX to #AHS1984. Thank you @MrRPMurphy for the gift of playing Candy & creating my newest role on American Horror Story! I’m so honored & excited to join the @AHSFX family!!!"

An AHS fan account shared the rumored theme of the new season: summer camp.

The title of the series is American Horror Story: 1984, but from the new videos and images on set, it appears that the season will also revolve around an '80s summer camp.

"It’s coming...#AHS1984 Are you ready for your first day at camp? ‘American Horror Story’ returns September 18 on FX," the account tweeted. But it followed up with a clarification, "The title is 1984. Due to leaked set pics and hints from the production crew, it is basically confirmed that this season is set at a summer camp."

Billie Lourd makes a perfect '80s addition with her big curls and style.

Lourd has appeared in two AHS seasons, Cult and Apocalypse, so far. She regularly works with Ryan Murphy, though, and was on his short-lived series Scream Queens, also alongside Emma Roberts.

"She ain’t playing around #ahs1984," one fan account shared an image of the actor in the upcoming season.

Ryan Murphy will reunite with Glee actor Matthew Morrison for the first time since the end of the that series.

One Glee fan tweeted, "I rly wanted Lea Michele to be the next #Glee alum to be on #AHS1984 but I will absolutely take Matthew Morrison too! I never knew I needed him on AHS but now I'm READY."

Morrison steps far away from his role as Mr. Schuester in his upcoming part in the horror series. The 40-year-old confidently strides in, wearing itty-bitty shorts that leave little to the imagination in the clip that Murphy shared.
