The Angry Birds Movie voice cast includes actors who appear in big-name TV shows and movies. The movie centers on Red, an outcast from his community of flightless birds, who investigates a group of green pigs when their ship arrives on his island. Suspecting the pigs of a nefarious plot, Red and his friends Chuck and Bomb seek the help of the Mighty Eagle. The Angry Birds Movie was a critical failure, earning only 43% on Rotten Tomatoes. But thanks to its talented ensemble cast and established IP, the 2016 film was enough of a box office success to warrant a sequel, The Angry Birds Movie 2, released in 2019.
When this film came out in 2016, it appealed to both children and nostalgic adults who played the Angry Birds mobile games. In the original Angry Birds game, released in December 2009, players launched birds at green pigs and their structures in order to smash everything. The game found major success due to its simple design and controls. Collectively, users have downloaded the game 2.5 billion times (via Today Online). With the success of the first game, Rovio Entertainment expanded the Angry Birds franchise, offering eleven spinoff versions. Jason Sudeikis as Red
In The Angry Birds Movie cast, Jason Sudeikis plays Red, a bird who struggles with his temper and becomes suspicious of the pigs when they arrive. Like many of his cast members, Sudeikis has got several impressive credits on his resume. Appearing in 177 episodes between 2003-2020, Sudeikis was a writer and regular on Saturday Night Live, appearing in notable sketches such as "Jon Bovi" and "Weekend Update: The Devil on Penn State".
He is also known for playing the eponymous football coach in the Apple TV Plus show Ted Lasso, for which he won two Primetime Emmy Awards. Sudeikis' film roles are quite memorable too as he gained notoriety for playing Oscar in Colossal, David Clark in We're the Millers, and Kurt Buckman in Horrible Bosses.
Josh Gad as Chuck
Chuck, played by Josh Gad, is the quick-moving best friend of Red and Bomb in The Angry Birds Movie. He helps investigate the green pigs and hunt down the Mighty Eagle. Like many of the Angry Birds cast, Gad is a notable voice actor and has got years of experience in the field. He voiced the friendly Olaf in the Frozen film series, Birdie and Ernst Von Gunten in Central Park, Muncher in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Louis in Ice Age: Continental Drift.
As well as being cast as Herman Judd in the TV series Avenue 5, Gary in Wolf Like Me, and LeFou in Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast, Gad has also got a memorable career on Broadway. While Gad made his debut in 2005 (playing William Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), his biggest success came six years later when he earned a Tony award nomination for playing Elder Cunningham in Book of Mormon. He also co-won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
Danny McBride as Bomb
The Angry Birds Movie cast includes Danny McBride as Bomb, a black round bird that helps Red and Chuck with their quest against the green pigs. McBride famously portrayed Red in Pineapple Express. Having created the series, he also acted as Kenny Powers in Eastbound & Down, Neal Gamby in Vice Principals, and Jesse Gemstone in The Righteous Gemstones. In the past two decades, McBride has started working as a Hollywood writer. He's written major blockbusters including Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends.
Maya Rudolph as Matilda
Matilda, voiced by Maya Rudolph, is the leader of the Angry Birds anger management class in The Angry Birds Movie. Like Sudeikis, Rudolph was a series writer and regular on Saturday Night Live, appearing in 162 episodes between 2000 and 2020 episodes. While she performed in several memorable sketches, playing showcase spokesmodel Rhonda, Pamela Bell, and Beyoncé, Rudolph's portrayal of Vice President Kamala turned out to be her best as it earned her a Primetime Emmy Award. She also has won 2 Primetime Emmys for voicing Connie The Hormone Monstress in Big Mouth.
Outside of voice acting and television, Rudolph has also appeared in several popular movies, playing bride-to-be Lillian in Bridesmaids, Verona in Away We Go, and the main antagonist Malvina in Disenchanted. Bill Hader as Leonard/King Mudbeard

He famously portrayed Tyrion Lannister in the Game of Thrones (a role which earned him 3 Primetime Emmy Awards), Marlowe Sawyer in Nip/Tuck and Arthur Ramsey in Threshold. Ike Barinholtz as Tiny: Tiny, played by Barinholtz, is a little green pig who's a minion of King Mudbeard. Famously, Ike Barinholtz acted as a regular in the TV show The Mindy Project. He also played Griggs in DC's Suicide Squad.
Tituss Burgess as Photog: In The Angry Birds Movie, Burgess plays Photog, a tourist pig with a Polaroid camera. Tituss Burgess is best known for his role as Titus Andromedon in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He also voiced multiple roles, including Cole Tillerman, on Central Park.
Ian Hecox as Bubbles: Hecox acts as Bubbles, an orange bird with a black underbelly who helps Red fight the green pigs. Ian Hecox popularly produced and acted in all Smosh media.
