Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you're walking down Calle De Alcala a great museum to check out is Museo De La Real Academia De Belles Artes De San Fernando.
Showcasing works from such renowned artists as Velazquez,Goya,Murillo and many more ,its a great museum to just chill out in, I myself love the look of the building, such an iconic structure, very pleasant on the eye, a building that like most every other building along Calle De Alcala is very photogenic, its a great museum to visit if you're planning a holiday to Madrid.

We visited on the afternoon of our arrival on the red-eye so we were not in full “museum mode”. As such, I cannot provide a full -fledge review other than to say it is well worth a visit, particularly because of the unique collection of Goyas. Definitely deserves more than the 90 minutes of our viewing. Or course, the Prado, Thyssen, Reina Sofia come first (perhaps even the Sorolla House museum), but certainly worth the few Euros it costs to enter.

Even though we had not enough time to visit the museum, just passing by, I could not notice the elegance and majestic facade of this arhitectural monument. It is really outstanding, in a city with tightly packed many other amazing buildings. From what I hear, if you have the chance, it is well worth visiting inside.

This museum has a great collection of paintings by many famous artists, and I believe at one time, if not now as well, it was a school where painting was taught. Indeed, I believe Goya studied here, and quite a few of his paintings are prominently displayed. There are also a couple of El Greco and a couple of Velazquez paintings on display. There is a lot to see here and we were unable to do the museum justice with respect to viewing other aspects of it besides the paintings (e.g. photographs and sketches). If you have the time to visit the museum, it is well worth doing. If not, go to the Prado and you can see an even vaster collection of paintings by famous artists.

I found this museum in my Madrid guidebook and I'm glad I took the time to stop by. And it was Wednesday, so it was free. Win-win!

Compared to the museums in the Triangle of Art, Museo de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando was blissfully quiet and calm. There were no crowds of people gawping in front of one masterpiece or another. I was able to stroll up and down the aisles at my leisure or take a breather in one of the many available seats.

Most of the paintings are religious oriented but no less beautiful, and the most famous Spaniard painters are, naturally, represented here; Goya, Velazquez, just to name a few.

The top floor houses modern paintings and sculptures created by current students of the Academia, which is not to my taste but still interesting to see.

You can also take photos!

... after the hustle and bustle of the Prado. Great selection of art across three floors. Mostly Spanish and, of course, there were many Goyas. But some interesting more modern pieces too, as well as several sculptures.

Walking down arguably the most famous ,beautiful and not to be forgotten, the longest street in Madrid namely Calle De Alcala is such a joy ,so many grand looking buildings to behold such as Museo De La Real Academia Bellas Artes De San Fernando.
This museum showcases many great artists such as Velazquez, Goya ,Murillo and many many more but as I have very little interest in the arts I was more than impressed with the building.
Its grand, massive, eye catching, it certainly commands your attention, makes for some great photographic opportunities, if your interested in the arts theres free entry of a Wednesday but I was more than content to take a few photos and admire this great looking building along Calle De Alcala.

Only three euros to enter during regular hours, free admission is granted on Wednesdays so I went on a Wednesday. The place was almost empty and contained a lot of fantastic art pieces. Very close to Puerta del Sol.
