Default Wrong Turn: Foundation (2021) Feb 23, 2021

Quote:
Friends hiking the Appalachian Trail are confronted by 'The Foundation', a community of people who have lived in the mountains for hundreds of years.
The 7th film in the Wrong Turn franchise is rumored to be a reboot of the franchise and is slated for release in the early part of 2021. No release date listed thus far, but looking at Target's database I'd put this one on February 23rd, March 2nd, or March 9th 2021.

Is the franchise still controlled by Fox? I thought Disney would turn their noses up at movies like this. As for this latest entry, I love the series but I don't know about this concept. So now the murderous mountain people are now descendants of some bizarre organized backwoods clique with a board of directors? Lol.

This movie looks like crap. The fact that the trailer refers to the original as a classic is a joke. I enjoy the original, along with some of the sequels, but they are absolute schlock.

Not to mention if I was going to consider any of them a classic, it'd be the second.

This one is Saban Films. LionsGate handles most of their disc releases, but Paramount have been releasing a few lately. Fox/Disney isn't involved.

There's the trailer for those who haven't seen it and are curious. If I'm being honest my expectations for this are very low but even with that said I will say that I welcome a return to "in the woods" slashers. This is a formula that still can work very well even in 2021 with modern technology and such given the isolated environment and so I am hopeful that this is able to tell an entertaining story, even if it isn't ground breaking.

Any time someone else takes over a successful franchise, it's usually not for the better. Having said that, after watching that trailer this actually looks interesting.

I'm always down for a new 'Wrong Turn' movie. I purchased all the previous films one release week, I don't see any reason to stop now, especially when we are not getting any many new movies as we used to.

Naw man, the 4th is the classic. From the gratuitous nudity to the fondue scene to the awesome ending, just low budget horror perfection!
Too bad the masks were so obviously masks though. Loved everything but the look of the killers.

I think a lot of people bailed after 3, and it's their loss. 4 is a darn fun slasher movie, my personal favorite of the sequels.

Ive always like the Wrong Turn series for this one I dont know about. Hopefully they still have deformed cannibal killers & not just crazy folks living in the woods lol.

I was so close to being one who bailed after 3, but something about the 4th made me grab it. So glad i did. I then grabbed 5 and hated that on first viewing, so I almost quit again. I saw 6 in store and passed, but my wife (then girlfriend) went and got it. Couple days later it was recalled. I have since re-visited 5 and found myself really liking it. All I recalled not liking wasn't there anymore. It didn't feel as cheap, Bradley didn't feel wasted, and I think I just "got it" more on a second try. 6 has been great from the get-go IMO.

Who were they making more films for if a lot of people bailed after 3? We're at #7. Someone has to be watching these and wanting more.

I just rewatched the trailer. I really HATE modern movie soundtracks. Also, why did this give me Purge vibes?

I posted these thoughts before, in the wrong thread. I'm hoping this reboot possibly helps us get a fresh new transfer of the 2003 original film, as well. My wallet says yes because I want this to be decent. No campy, just camping gone wrong, with some interesting looking traps. We're high due for another mean-spirited woods-slasher that takes itself seriously, that's not a comedy, spoof, or parody of itself. The reboot looks a bit like Wrong Turn of the Nerds, meets a cheesy nod to The Final Terror, with a bit of Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes sadistic flavor to it, complete with a whole host of doosh characters that are just begging to get what they get. I'm in. With very low expectations, of course.

But I digress. Back on the proper topic: Can we get a fresh new scan of Wrong Turn 2003? Hello? Vinegar Syndrome? Help!
