Zhang Yuan is the Demon Commander of Tong Xuan Realm's Demon Race who first meets Yang Kai during the latter’s return to his original world.

Surprisingly, despite his intimidating status, Zhang Yuan appears as a simple middle-aged man with a plain appearance.
Personality[]
Though he has proven to be quite devious and prideful, Zhang Yuan is also a calculating individual. He knows how to hide and suppress his baser instincts in order to achieve his goals effectively.
Background[]
As the Demon Commander, Zhang Yuan was an extraordinarily powerful peak 3rd Order Saint Realm existence, and one of the most powerful and respected(or feared) figures of Tong Xuan Realm. However, as time progressed and he moved to higher worlds, the younger generations would start to surpass him.
Past[]
Zhang Yuan is the one who trapped and sealed the cultivation of Meng Wu Ya in the past. He achieved this feat by baiting the latter into charging into the Demon Capital City, where he had a ready made Spirit Array waiting to seal the powerful Human Race Master’s cultivation, further illustrating the cleverness of Zhang Yuan.
History[]
Demon Capital City[]
Zhang Yuan would first meet with Yang Kai in the latter's home Small World after Void Corridors appeared connecting it to Tong Xuan Realm. Standing alongside two of his Demon Generals in Xue Li and Meng Ge, Zhang Yuan would cordially invite Yang Kai to explore the secret chamber under the Demon Capital City to discover the secrets of Great Demon God. After a deal is agreed to, Zhang Yuan warns Xue Li and Meng Ge not to look at Yang Kai as a simple 3rd Order Transcendent Realm cultivator, but more like a strong 2nd Order Saint.[2]
Later in the Demon Capital, Zhang Yuan would free a tortured Old Demon, whom had possessed the body of one of his former Demon Generals, into Yang Kai's custody so as to maintain peaceful relations. After investigating the secret chamber, Zhang Yuan and the others would learn the existence of the Bone Race, the Saint King Realm, and the Starry Sky.
Bone Race[]
Zhang Yuan would participate in the war against the Bone Race under the leadership of Holy Master Yang Kai. Though they manage to achieve victory in this war, Zhang Yuan would lose two of his Demon Generals, in Ba He and Gou Qiong, at the hands of the Bone Race leader, Ke Luo. After this battle, Zhang Yuan witnesses Yang Kai make an extraordinarily powerful breakthrough to the Saint Realm.
Holy Master Returns[]
When Yang Kai returns to Tong Xuan Realm, Zhang Yuan is invited to Nine Heavens Holy Land to speak with him. However, Yang Kai takes a long time to appear, and Zhang Yuan engages in a duel of Divine Senses with Scarlet Flame Thunder Dragon out of frustration. However, there duel is abruptly ended when an otherworldly powerful Divine Sense suppresses that of both cultivators. Humbled and stunned, Zhang Yuan quickly apologizes to Yang Kai, and becomes quickly interested in, yet somewhat surprised by, Yang Kai's offer to leave Tong Xuan Realm to pursue a higher Martial Dao. Zhang Yuan would later enter Yang Kai's Sealed World Bead to begin the journey to Shadowed Star.
Shadowed Star[]
During his time in the Sealed World Bead, Zhang Yuan would breakthrough to the 1st Order Saint King Realm.[1] After arriving in High Heaven Sect and feeling its immense World Energy, Zhang Yuan would thank Yang Kai for the opportunity.
