Obituary
Yvonne Dorethia Williams, 76, of Salisbury, departed this life on Friday, July 8, 2022, at her residence. Born in Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of the late John W. Pullum, Sr. and Bessie Mae Riddick Pullum. Her husband, Layton Williams, Sr., also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Williams was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she served as an usher and choir member. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury.
She was a foster grandparent at Pemberton Elementary School.
Loving memories will be cherished by: a daughter, Veronica A. “Duke” Bryant; four stepchildren, Layton Williams, Jr., Naomi Morris (Mitch), Sylvia Williams, and Evangeline Williams; a brother, Russell Pullum, Sr.; two sisters, Sarah Long and Constance Smith; a godson, Richard Pullum, Jr.; two special nieces, Sheila Stanford and Cheryl Trader; a special nephew, Shawn McAllister; eight step-grandchildren; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five siblings, John Wesley Pullum, Jr., Mildred Proctor, Mary Parker, Irene Mitchell, and Carl Pullum, a grandson, Delante Brock Jones, three nieces, Barbara Hall, Vertiley Jones, and Joyce Smith, and two nephews, Kevin Long and James Proctor.
Mrs. Williams will lie in repose on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10 to 11 AM at First Baptist Church, 528 Delaware Avenue and Booth Street, Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM.
