The X-Men are finally returning to the screen. After the end of their cinematic universe with X-Men: Dark Phoenix in 2019, Disney closed the deal and bought Fox, which meant the franchise would now be part of the MCU. It’s been four years since that moment, and the mutants will make their first official appearance this same year in X-Men 97, a continuation of the iconic 90’s animated series.

But what fans are really expecting is the live-action debut of the group of heroes. Although there have been some hints with Ms. Marvel and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the official introduction will come in the hand of Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3, which will also include another classic mutant, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

The universe of the X-Men is vast and full of characters, so Marvel fans can expect many new stories coming along. But some also want to see the old stars playing their characters once again or getting a new role in the MCU as an Easter Egg of what they did in the past. Especially the ones that played main characters like Logan, Scott Summers, Jean Grey, or even Charles Xavier, who appeared in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Is There Any Chance of Seeing Famke Janssen Back as Jean Grey?

X-Men: Apocalypse Will Recast Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops

Although many might know her as Liam Neeson’s ex-wife in the Taken trilogy, there’s no doubt comic book and superheroes fans know Famke Janssen from playing the legendary Jean Grey in the original X-Men trilogy.

While promoting her latest action film, Knights of the Zodiac, Famke spoke to CinemaBlend on the chances of returning to the X-Men franchise:

“Um, you know, I played Jean Grey [and] Phoenix five times. It has been an incredible journey. It has given me the most amazing opportunities over time. So, who knows? Is that chapter done? Potentially. Is there an opening? Who knows? I just look forward and I don’t really look back. I just enjoy new opportunities in my life.”

With Jackman coming back as Wolverine, the chances of seeing some of the actors that were part of that era playing the characters once again seem very likely, especially in movies like Deadpool, which jokes around a lot with the idea of the multiverse and franchises. So, the upcoming film could include some surprises, and Famke could be one of them.
