Take a look/listen at the audiobook as well. I like the movie, but lorewise: Max Brooks said the movie has nothing in common with his book other than the title. Not judging the game as well, I like that l4d has a real spiritual successor. Its just, its great to see these all (movie, audiobook, book, and game) accomplish what we love.
The game also has a lot of references to the book, even more than the movie lol
I second the audiobook recommendation; I highly recommend getting the complete edition audiobook because it has so much more content and so many great performances.
Have you played Back 4 Blood? I honestly thought it captured the L4D feel better than WWZ
Edit: what a salty sub, y’all need to touch some grass.
Back 4 blood is left 4 dead without any of the charm or personality IMHO.
It's not terrible, I've played through all the dlc's and have beaten the vanilla maps on nightmare but It just doesn't have the enjoyment and replayability I've gotten out of l4d wwz or even vermintide.
I suppose, but I got bored with WWZ pretty quickly though, the grind is kind of long and stupid for each class. On top of that, level design is very uninspired imo (push button and wait, go to other button, push another button, on and on)
Meanwhile, unlocking all the main cards for B4B took maybe a week at launch, and gave me plenty of playstyles to choose from and theorycraft for several months afterwards
Also, I disagree about the personality statement, I liked how depending on your team comp, you would get new interactions and dialogue each playthrough. Fuck Evangelo though, bot or player, doesn’t matter.
If you're gonna compare b4b's grind at launch you should also use WWZ's grind at launch. Which has 2 fewer classes and no prestige system. Not nearly as grindy as it is now.
And at least each bit progression in wwz was tangible and not forcing the player to unlock dozens of cosmetics they will never once in their life ever equip.
Part of when I say personality I'm also talking about the enemies. Specials in left 4 dead feel like actual characters themselves with their own unique sound effects and musical cues. I could tell you exactly which special is around based on the sound effects and musical cues but I couldn't personally tell you what noise a tallboy makes but maybe you can chock that up to just not playing the game enough.
Again I don't hate b4b and think now especially its a decent experience with the deck changes but I don't really have much of a desire to play it. I wanted it to be a home run more than anyone it was one of the biggest disappointments in gaming for me when I first popped into the closed alpha.
That game is pure ass-juice.
That’s like me calling you a shithead for liking WWZ
The game is still ass
B4B was developed by L4D devs
Yeah so when the other dude said spiritual successor to L4D, obviously I would mention the game made by the devs of L4D that is literally the spiritual successor.
WWZ isn’t even first-person, how could it be the spiritual successor to L4D when it doesn’t even have the same perspective?
The aftermath DLC added 1st person
The extended version of this film, taken on its own merits with very little expectation coming from having read the book, is its own fun zombie romp with some great moments.
The movies biggest detractor was the name/claiming it had anything to do with the book.
Its still a good movie
i read the book after watching (and enjoying) the movie...its nothing alike. I recommend it as well as the audiobook
I loved this movie and the book too.
I think the book could have been adapted more for a tv show/limited series like Black Summer.
Still remember seeing this in the theatres back in 2013 just loved it. Can’t believe it’s 10 years old now wtf 😳 😵💫🤦♂️
Can't believe they made a whole movie with brad pitt based on this game
I hope they make him into a playable character (lmao never gonna happen) just so i can aggro the zombies and watch Pitt get the shit kicked out of him
The Unrated Cut was $5 on Amazon and iTunes .
Hot take: The movie itself is *fine*. I don't mean good, I don't mean bad, I just mean *fine*. The biggest detractor for this film is the title. If it was any other title, not related to the book, it would be a pretty decent movie.
I enjoyed it. Now give me an AMC miniseries based on the book.
Brad Pitt's scarf is the standout star of this movie.
Book (Legendary and gives hope of a WWZ2 if you have read it)
Game (i love this goddamn game even though it pisses me off a lot)
Movie( average hollywood flick but ive watched it several times which i rarely find myself doing with a lot of these recent movies)
