Columbia & Snake Rivers FAQ

What should I pack for a Columbia & Snake Rivers cruise?

If you're traveling the Columbia and Snake rivers during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall), average temperatures range from 65- 85 degrees during the day and cool to around 45-50 degrees at night. Pack a few long-sleeved t-shirts and light sweaters that you can layer over or under your clothes in case the weather gets chilly.

You can pack lighter, if you’re cruising in late June through late August, as daytime temperatures average between 85-95 degrees, dropping to 65-70 degrees at night.

No matter which season you are cruising, comfortable shoes are a must for your daily adventures. A windbreaker, preferably waterproof, is also ideal for watching the everchanging landscapes and native wildlife from your private balcony or the sun deck. Be sure to pack fitness clothing if you intend to use our onboard fitness center and don’t forget your daily medications.

When is the best time to cruise the Columbia & Snake Rivers?

For some, the best time to visit the Columbia and Snake rivers is late April through June, and then again in September and October. Spring is peak bloom time for the Columbia River Gorge's wildflowers and orchards and the verdant landscapes along the shore are a sight to behold.

In Autumn the temperatures are not yet too chilly, but the transitioning colors are spectacular. October is also the ideal time for wine enthusiasts to visit, as this is when the harvest and crushing take place.

Summer is the most popular season to visit the Pacific Northwest because of the long sunny days, warm temperatures, and blue skies. So, the best time to set out on your Columbia & Snake Rivers cruise will depend on whether you like it hot, or if you prefer to witness the most colorful landscapes.
