Our first visit to the college which certainly exceeded our expectations. So much to see from the dining room complete with grand piano onto the chapel, and the choristers with its unique chapel within these built over the burial spot of its patron. And all of this brought to life by our wonderful guide Sandra!! If you find yourself in Winchester I can highly recommend checking this out, you won't regret it.

We booked a one hour tour on a lovely hot summers day, which lasted nearly two hours thanks to the wonderful guide Kate. Kate is so passionate about the college and it’s history which she shares in a fun way captivating her audience. We can highly recommend this tour.

We had an excellent tour of Winchester college. Our guide Kate was superb and quite knowledgeable. She spent extra time with the tour. Winchester college is a wonderful gem in the city of Winchester. We highly recommend that you take the tour, only 8 pounds per person.

The tour covered the founder, his guiding principles, the buildings of the college and their history. By extension, that story also reflects national events and everyday life from wider British history.

The quirks and idiosyncrasies of life at Winchester College were also discussed in detail, especially the living conditions that prevailed until quite recently - not at all what you might imagine!

All this was brought to life by our friendly, very knowledgeable guide (Kate) who clearly has a great fondness for the college. A really enjoyable and memorable tour.

Tip: If you have time after the tour, also take a look at the superb collection of classical artefacts in the Treasury.

We would highly recommend booking onto a guided tour of the college. Our guide Kate was very engaging and knowledgable, and with only a small group she took special care to find out about our particular interests and tailor her talk accordingly. An hour well spent, and definitely a highlight of our stay in Winchester.

Visited with a group of "Seniors" from Fleet, Hampshire. Sandra Showell, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and talked to us, rather than lecturing. Fielded all questions expertly and was conscious of our age and carefully pointed out hazards, etc.
Well worth the modest Entrance/Tour Fee.

This was a return visit to Winchester College for me, the first was 60 years ago when the boys club I attended in East London carried out some clearance work on St Catherines Hill, which is owned by the college. A wonderful experience to return guided beautifully by Sandra Showell our kind, considerate and very knowledgable tour guide. If you are in Winchester don’t miss out on a tour of magnificent house of learning when hopefully you will also be guided by Sandra.

No visit to Winchester is complete without one hour tour to see the college. We joined the tour at 3:30pm on Sunday. We were the only participants in the tour and our tour effectively became a private one. Our tour guide Kate was very knowledgeable and communicated her knowledge to us with a lot of passion. She answered all the questions we had and made our visit amazing. I would definitely recommend this tour.

We have often walked past and thought about going on a tour here, now so glad we did!

It was wonderful to have a passionate and knowledgable tour guide (Kate) to take us through 650 years of history.

We came out with our heads full of the beautiful and interesting things we had seen, and full of stories too. It has really helped us to understand the culture of Winchester.

Apart from the stories, some of our highlights were the ceiling of Chapel, the medieval stained glass and the enormous refectory tables.

We thoroughly recommend this fabulous visit.

We made a return visit to Winchester College, on this occasion to visit the Treasury which was not open when we had the college tour a couple of years ago.
Open to the public on most days it is few to enter. The treasury although small in size it is extensive. Such is the amount of "treasure" possessed by the college they rotate every 3 months and only a fraction is ever on display at any one time.
The focus of the display when we visited was there Chinese porcelain which dates back many centuries.
Plenty of other interesting finds and well worth a visit.

Our guide was so enthusiastic it was infectious, and we happily ran well over time in this excellent tour.

Informative at every turn we learnt about the motivations of the founder, the changing history of each of the buildings and the idiosyncrasies of the college that have continued for generations.

As a finale we left the tour listening to the choir boys practicing in the background.
