Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married for almost twelve years but have been together for over 20 years, having grown together from university students to a married couple with three children. 

The Prince and Princess of Wales's relationship is currently being recreated for season six of Netflix's The Crown, which is currently filming in their old haunts around St Andrews University.

It was a long and winding road to marriage, and the couple briefly split in 2007. However, after rekindling their romance, Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton in October 2010 and an April 2011 Royal Wedding was followed by the birth of heir Prince George in 2013, spider-loving Princess Charlotte in 2015 and crowd favourite Prince Louis in 2018.

The Waleses now live between Adelaide Cottage near Windsor Castle and Anmer Hall, their country home at Sandringham. 

Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken on key roles at royal events and became Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth in September, 2022. Here are the best photos of them together:

Her later revealed how Prince George and Prince Charlotte were 'delighted' at the arrival of their little brother who was born at 11.01am as he gave his first royal wave to an adoring public.  The beaming parents looked delighted as they showed off their third son to the world who was born weighing 8lbs 7oz on St George's Day.

On the first day of their royal tour of Sweden and Norway, in 2018, competition was brewing. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a hockey penalty shootout at an outdoor ice skating venue in Stockholm. It was one of a number of activities they carried out during the tour.

A bit of competitive banter at the starting line, as William and Kate line up when joining a London Marathon training session in 2017. Kate, in her New Balance trainers and black skinny jeans, arguably looked the sportier of the pair at the event to promote their mental health charity, Heads Together. But in the end, it was William’s younger brother Prince Harry, who romped to victory, with William second, closely followed by Kate.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge invited President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle for a private dinner at their London home, Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace. Later, the couple shared a number of images from the event, revealing a glimpse into their private life. The room in which they sat for drinks was one of 22 inside the couple's private apartment which once belonged to Princess Margaret.

Following their reunion, William and Kate tried not to make it too obvious, but they were together one month later, on July 7, when Princes William and Harry stood on stage at Wembley in front of 63,000 people to honour the 10-year anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. Harry sat next to his girlfriend while William sat next to his best friend Thomas van Straubenzee. Two rows behind was Kate Middleton.

Kate Middleton's first appearance with the Royal Family was at Sandhurst, where she watched Prince William's passing out display. Glamorous Kate joined the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Charles at the event, although she attended with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton. The seriousness of the outing was taken as a sign the couple could one day marry.

At a Student Charity Fashion Show at Fairmont St Andrews hotel - which a 19-year-old William paid £200 to attend - the royal was apparently heard to exclaim 'Wow! Kate's hot!' by friend Fergus Boyd from Eton. The event marked a shift in his platonic relationship with Catherine Middleton, and the see-through dress, which cost £30 to make and was worn by Kate wore over a black bikini, sold for £78,000.

No public photographs exist of William's first meeting with Catherine or 'Kate' Middleton- but the sixth series of the Crown tries to recreate it. The art history students have rooms close together at St Andrews University's St Salvator's Hall of Residence. William struggles at university and Kate persuades him to stay and study geography instead.
