I've put up a request for comment on this, but I'd also appreciate assistance from other editors. The Diocese of Sourozh article has been a small battleground for some time now, particularly with NPOV and verifiability issues. - This seems to have gotten a bit better as events have calmed, and improvements in providing references/citations seems to have stopped a lot of the extreme bias and use of the pages for propaganda. - I agree. In fact, Dn Damick (who subsequently changed his name to 'Preost') seems to me to have been the sole cause of the difficulties on the Sourozh page about which he himself complained. (The dispute started through his repeated and unexplained revertive deletions - breaking the 3-revert rule - made against the wishes of other editors: see the summary of the debate which spilled onto the Eastern Orthodox wikiproject here.) However, the Deacon has now 'retired indefinitely' from Wikipedia (see his talk page), and there does not seem to be anyone else who has any difficulty with the Sourozh page as now stands. Therefore, I recommend it be removed from the POV/Verifiability list. Best, Maxim662 13:16, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Re-vamp of Eastern Christianity Portal[edit]
Following some comments and requests, and a clear need, I've initiated a major re-vamping of the portal, to give it a style in common with most other major portals, and to bring much of its material up to date. This article is suffused with the church's POV and comes across as the private project of a HOCNA priest who appears to believe that he owns the page and can remove anything which does not fit that POV. Collaboration from others could improve the article immensely.
Right now, the history section of the Icon article is very hardcore Protestant POV--it may even slide over into outrigh iconoclasm. Is there someone out there with knowledge of icons in the early Church who could help with this?Dogface 15:47, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Christian Church article[edit]
The Christian Church article (covering the entire Christian community) has been expanded and "completed" and peer review is being sought. I would especially be interested in commentary from the "Eastern" community since commentary on these topics normally comes heavily from the Protestant/Roman Catholic camp.

Moses the Hungarian[edit]
Greetings! I have recently created a stub about Moses the Hungarian upon the request of Piotrus. However it seems that the sources about this saint, in either Hungarian or English, are scarce (especially online), so I'm drawing your attention to the article in the hope you'll find better sources to expand it. Patriarch Alexei[edit]
There is currently an editor who is intent on smearing Patriarch Alexei, and most recently has been removing the statement that he is the spiritual leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, on the grounds that it violates the NPOV policy -- which is ridiculous. - This is not a personal attack. It is an observation of interest to other Orthodox contributors. It is very clear, if you look at the edits, and the comments on that talk page, that the editor in question was making no attempt to present a fair picture of Patriarch Alexei, and was attempting to accuse him of everything from being a nazi, to being a communist, to being a murderer, to profiting off of baby body parts, etc. Under the circumstances, I don't believe the word "smear" is an unfair term. I would also point out that my comments describe behavior, they are not ad hominem. Frjohnwhiteford (talk) 05:35, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

- It was not a personal attack. A personal attack would be "So and so is a jerk"...i.e., a characterization of the person. My comments addressed behavior... and obviously bad behavior at that. Your warning, and $4.00 will get you a cup of coffee at your local Starbucks. The word "smear" has an appropriate use, and it was used appropriately in this case. - There is a dicussion on how to fix the template:S-rel, which has used for many Oriental Orthodox bishops and many Eastern Orthodox Church bishops.

I would greatly appreciate attention to urgent concerns I have raised about this page here: [1].
The article has in recent weeks had inserted documentably innacurate content and other destructive edits, including a wholesale removal of a notable section.
I am proposing that the page be reverted back to this version before the inaccurate/libelous content was added: [2]. I am not defending this earlier version as perfect but it is at least accurate (no editors dispute that. From it, proposed revisions to it can and should be discussed on the now extensive talk page. I also am soliciting the input of subject editors, since the current active editors have made repeated, egregious mistakes, many of which stand in the current live version.
