About the Author

Princess Märtha Louise created this tale based on the childhood of her grandfather, King Olav V. She is a highly respedted storyteller, and has done readings for children throughout Norway, and has hosted television shows reading fairy tales. Princess Märtha Louise studied English literature at Oxford and obtained certification as a Physical Therapist, specializing in the Rosen Method. She advocates for disabled children and manages her own bisiness as a cultural mediator. She recently released a CD with the highly acclaimed Oslo Gospel Choir, and as an avid horse lover has produced a television series about horses. Illustrator Svein Nyhus graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Oslo, Norway. He has received several national prizes for his work as an illustrator and writer of books for children, among them the Picture Book Prize from the Norwegian Ministry of Culture, and the School Librarians' Book Prize in 2000. He has been nominated for the coveted internatiional Hans Christian Andersen Award.

Princess Märtha Louise (1971- ) was born in Oslo, Norway. Being born into the Norwegian Royal Family has inspired her first book, "Why Kings and Queens don't Wear Crowns", launched in 2004. The children's book answers the most common question asked from disappointed children she met: "Where is your crown?".
Princess Märtha Louise discovered the art of energy reading and meditation in 2003. Together with Elisabeth Nordeng, she founded Soulspring in 2007. Together they run online courses, hold seminars and talks all over the world teaching people to change the world, starting within themselves. Her latest book "The Spiritual Password" is an international bestseller translated into 10 languages and takes you on an inner journey where you can discover your strengths by the secret of your spiritual password.
She loves horses, skiing, traveling, meditating and sharing her wisdom on opening people´s hearts.

Lovely book with a gentle story

My daughter just received this book from her Godmother as a birthday present. Being that our family has a strong Norwegian heritage and background, it meant a great deal to me to be able to pass along such a valuable piece of "family history." I fell in love with the book so much that it drove me to tears! Not only is it a phenominal "fairy tale" story that is well written, it is also extremely educational about the Norwegian Royal family and their lineage. The version my daughter received also had an accompanying CD with the story read by the Princess herself. It makes it very easy to let her play the story and follow along in the book herself. I would recommend this for every little boy or girl that dreams of being a prince or princess....except if you are a personal friend of mine. Then, don't buy it because you will probably be getting it from us for your upcoming birthday!

Great book. Brings back memories for me as I was a yearly visitor to Norway. I remember seeing the King and Queen getting married and have followed their lives and the lives of the Crown Prince and Princess. It is a loving and tender book. I can envision the real people that it is talking about.

A Delightful, Royal Story!

I was privileged to meet Princess Martha Louise on her recent U.S. book tour, and she was so delightful and charming. She read her story to our group in her enthusiastic, dramatic voice and then sat for hours autographing the book. If you're able to purchase the most recent edition with the CD (which she narrates) then it is an extra-special, great treat for kids of all ages.
