'The Mafia Kills Only in Summer': EW review

Alex Bisconti in The Mafia Kills Only in Summer

Actor-director Pierfrancesco Diliberto’s Italian import is an uneasy blend of coming-of-age comedy and political satire set in Sicily during a bloody wave of Mafia assassinations in the ’70s. The sun-kissed story follows a clumsy Casanova pining for a classmate as he tries to navigate the unspoken code of silence surrounding the local Cosa Nostra. Despite some real moments of sweetness, it ends up feeling a bit slight. C+
