Stranger Things adds eight new cast members including horror icon Robert Englund

We’ve been waiting for some Stranger Things season 4 news to drop, and boy, did we get some today!

The Nightmare that is Stranger Things meets the nightmare that is Freddy Krueger, as Robert Englund joins the Stranger Things season 4 cast as a recurring role, according to a report from TV Line.

Robert Englund is best known for his role in the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise, particularly the debut movie that premiered in 1984.

A Nightmare On Elm Street was considered one of the best ’80s horror films to hit the film industry and it’s still viewed by many as one of the best horror films of all time.

Although Robert Englund is a huge addition to the Stranger Things family, he’s not the only one joining the series!

Who are the Stranger Things season 4 new characters?

Other stars that were announced are: Mason Dye, Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Quinn, Eduardo Franco, Nikola Djuricko and Tom Wlaschiha.

According to the report, Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, and Joseph Quinn are series regulars for season 4 (and possibly beyond). Nikola Djuricko, Tom Wlaschiha, Mason Dye, and Robert Englund are joining season for in recurring roles.

Stranger Things announced the cast and character descriptions on Twitter. We shared those descriptions below.

Robert Englund as Victor Creel

Sherman Augustus and Mason Dye

Tom Wlaschiha and Nikola Djuricko

Joseph Quinn

It’s no secret that the Duffer Brothers are not only ’80s film fans, but they love ’80s horror. This isn’t the first nod to an ’80s horror film that the Duffers have made throughout the Stranger Things series.

In season 3 when the kids were at the hospital visiting Mrs. Driscoll, we noticed that the Hawkins Memorial Hospital sign was a nod to Halloween II, a horror film that debuted in 1981.

The addition of Robert Englund to the cast of Stranger Things is a huge pull for this series. The notion that the series keeps getting darker and scarier with each season continues to hold true.

I mean, what’s scarier than having Freddy Krueger in Hawkins, Indiana!

As we stated before, production on season 4 of Stranger Things is currently underway. The cast and crew were on hiatus for over 6 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic around the world.

The cast and crew are currently filming in Georgia getting ready to head to New Mexico to continue filming away on the season.

As of now, we don’t know exactly when season 4 will wrap filming let alone premiere on Netflix around the world but when we find out, we will sure to let you know!

Stay tuned for more updates on Stranger Things 4!
