Former MSNBC and CNN anchor Thomas Roberts opens up about last two years: “I’ve been sad”

Sending out good vibes to Thomas Roberts who became the first openly gay man to anchor an evening newscast for a major broadcast network when he filled in for Lester Holt on NBC Nightly News in 2015.

Thomas, whose most recent TV gig hosting the syndicated Daily Mail TV ended last year, opened up in an Instagram post earlier today about how he’s been feeling lately and my heart goes out to him:

I used to post here more often but I stopped because I’ve been sad. My entire world – marriage, husband, home, career, parents, identities, confidence, and basic self-worth seemed to vanish overnight. All those losses began two years ago.

Thomas ended the video by skipping rope and explained: I used to love the gym and jumping rope for cardio. I haven’t done it in about two years and I feel fat.

I’ll be back.

Rooting for Thomas who had long stints at CNN/HLN and MSNBC/NBC and is an Emmy winner. He’s a terrific anchor and reporter and I hope he knows how many of us are rooting for him!
