Hey There, It's Yogi Bear! is The Movie about the eponymous pic-a-nic basket stealing, smarter-than-the-average bear. Released in 1964, it was Hanna-Barbera's first full-length feature.
Spring has come to Jellystone Park once more, and with it comes the return of Yogi Bear from hibernation, who proceeds to get up to his normal antics. After one too many thwarted efforts from Ranger Smith, Yogi decides to give an ultimatum to his adversary: either revoke the "Do Not Feed The Bears" rule, or he leaves. Much to Yogi's shock, the ranger calls his bluff and decides to send Yogi to the San Diego Zoo!
Yogi's able to elude this fate, but unknowingly sets events in motion that leads Cindy Bear—who is in love with Yogi—to being sent away from Jellystone and into misery and peril. Upon discovering this, Yogi and Boo Boo set out to rescue Cindy and bring her back home to Jellystone. Will they succeed, or find themselves in even greater danger?

- Accidental Ventriloquism: Yogi commandeers Ranger Smith's telephone.Yogi: Hello? Hello? Is this the White House?

Yogi: Hey, the President knows my name. - All for Nothing: Cindy's plan to reunite with Yogi winds up as this. She takes credit for being the "Brown Phantom" so she can get sent to the same zoo as Yogi but winds up sent to a different one unbeknownst to her until half way there. It was even more pointless as Yogi wasn't even at the zoo but still in the park as the "Brown Phantom" and he had also had a Love Epiphany about her.
- Yogi to a smaller degree. He got to continue his picnic stealing but the lengths he went to meant he was completely alone and by the time he has a Love Epiphany about Cindy she's already been sent away because of setting herself up as the "Brown Phantom".
- Animation Bump: As a movie, it has higher budget, allowing better quality and smoother movement. Some scenes almost bring the fluidity back up to the standards of Hanna Barbera's final Tom and Jerry shorts.
- Batman Gambit: Yogi is able to trick Corn Pone into taking his place at the San Diego Zoo with this, boasting about how famous he'll be there to get the other bear to want to take his place.
- Big Damn Movie: A big-time step up from Yogi's standard seven-minute shorts that precede it, dealing with heavier topics than the original show usually did.
- By Wall That Is Holey: When a ladder falls off a high rise, a group of cops rearrange themselves so that they fit neatly between the rungs when it lands.
- Celebrity Paradox: Boo Boo says that Yogi sings just like James Darren. Darren provides Yogi's singing voice for the "Ven-e, Ven-o, Ven-a" song.
- Depending on the Artist: This film actually ended this practice for Ranger Smith and Cindy who received their iconic appearances here.
- Delayed Reaction: Yogi comes out of hiding when he learns that Cindy is missing. He tells Ranger Smith he'll stay at the Ranger Station while Smith drives away to find her. The Ranger turns around when he realizes it's Yogi.
- The Film of the Series: And the very first one in animation history at that.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Mugger, the Chizztling Brothers' dog, later became Muttley of Wacky Races fame.
- From Bad to Worse: Cindy was in bad enough straits just finding out she was being sent to St. Louis instead of San Diego but then some really bad luck came her way when she got tossed from the train and wound up found by some crooked circus owners.
- Hold the Unsolicited Ingredient: Yogi uses Strong Ants to steal from picnic baskets. Some of the ants are carrying hamburger ingredients, and Yogi holds up a sign that reads "Hold the onions."
- Internal Deconstruction: A Downplayed Trope but still present. This movie represents what would happen if Yogi ever did push Ranger Smith to follow through on his threats to send Yogi to the zoo. More generally it also picks apart Yogi's behavior. The Zany Scheme approach he's so fond of gets thwarted because Ranger Smith has gotten wise about his tricks. He's shown to some degree as selfish in his motivations rather than being a Lovable Rogue, most prominent in how he deals with Cindy and the Ranger. Finally it's shown what would happen if Yogi pursued his picnic basket thefts with no concern for how others would feel. He's practically unstoppable but ultimately friendless because he's in hiding.
- Late to the Realization: Yogi overhears Ranger Smith learning that Cindy got lost on her way to Saint Louis and starts giving him commands to start a search party. Smith is too distraught to realize who is giving him orders, and is already driving away when he suddenly screeches to a halt, drives back and confronts Yogi.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Ranger Smith, upon finding out that Cindy was lost on the way to the zoo he had her shipped to.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Oh boy, did Yogi do it here. And not with a single, with a triple. First there was his Tempting Fate with his ultimatum to the Ranger. Then there was his pulling a fast one and going into hiding but not telling his friends about it. Finally there were his thefts as the "Brown Phantom" which drove the Ranger up the wall. All of that put together ultimately led Cindy to take credit for being the "Brown Phantom" in an effort to be with Yogi.
- Oh, Crap!: Boo Boo when he finds out that Cindy is being sent to St. Louis instead of San Diego.
- Pie in the Face: How Cindy convinces Ranger Smith that she's the "Brown Phantom".
- Random Events Plot: Hey There, It's Yogi Bear! begins with the bears waking up from hibernation, with Yogi beginning his usual picnic basket-stealing routine. The entire movie starts to kick off when Yogi has enough of Ranger Smith bossing him around, so he demands him to lift the rules or he wishes to be transferred out of the park. So, Ranger Smith sends the bears to the San Diego Zoo after getting a call from them asking for a bear. Yogi tricks another bear in his place and hid for a while, unbeknownst to Boo-Boo and Cindy, leading the latter to have herself transferred out to be with him. Unfortunately, she's being sent to the St. Louis Zoo instead. She gets lost on the way and captured by crooked circus owners. Yogi comes out of hiding when he finds out about Cindy's disappearance, so he and Boo-Boo go off to find her. After rescuing her the three try to journey back to Jellystone, only to end up in the city, where Ranger Smith finds out from the news and brings them home.
- Repulsive Ringmaster: Grifter Chizzling, who runs the circus that takes Cindy. He treats everyone except his dog Mugger like crap.
- Running Gag: People keep running away from the sight of Yogi, Boo-Boo and Cindy.
- Say My Name: Boo-Boo calls out Cindy's name as he tries to tell her she's being sent to another zoo instead of San Diego where Yogi is supposedly located.Boo-Boo: Cindy! Yogi isn't in St. Louis! CINDY! CIIIIIIINDYYY!!
- Scenery Porn: Jellystone Park is mighty scenic.
- Tempting Fate: Yogi goes to confront Ranger Smith about the "Do Not Feed The Bears" rule, boasting to Boo Boo that Ranger Smith would never think of sending him away. He finds out exactly how well his belief holds up.
- To Be Lawful or Good: Ranger Smith has this conundrum with Yogi and Cindy, choosing lawful each time. He might hate to do it but his job is to enforce the park rules and he will do it, friends or no.
- A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: Happens to Cindy. Miserable over Yogi being sent to the zoo, she takes credit for being the "Brown Phantom" to get sent there as well only to wind up being shipped to a different one. She does this immediately after Ranger Smith uses it as a threat to find the "Brown Phantom".
- Wham Line: What Ranger Smith says to Boo Boo as Cindy is being taken away:Ranger Smith: San Diego? Well they didn't need anymore bears in San Diego. I'm shipping Cindy to the St. Louis Zoo.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Yogi does this to Ranger Smith upon finding out that he sent Cindy to the zoo.
