With the growth of electronic dance music, it's easy to forget that there's a separate genre called electronic music with a different definition/meaning and musical style. Not all electronic music is meant for dancing; and while a number of the electronic music bands on this list are of the dance variety, there is also a subgenre of electronic music that isn't necessarily meant for dancing. Although the top electronic music bands do produce dance music, dance music isn't a precursor for success. Electronic music, technically, is defined as both using and employing digital electronic and techno instruments, which is easy to forget sometimes, due to the burgeoning popularity of modern EDM artists.
