- Santhosh BHyderabad, India5 contributionsGanga Aarti happens at "Harki Pauri" (locally pronounced as "Harkipodi"), which is the most auspicious place in Haridwar. This place consists of temple for Ganga Devi, Raja Bhagirath, Shiva, Mahalakshmi in the banks of Ganga River. Basically, all these temples are very small in size and compact. Both the banks have steps ("Ghat") wherein devotees sit and watch Aarti. Puja starts at 6:00 PM daily evening with Vedic hyms by pandits. By 6:30 PM, vedic pandits leave that place and taken over by temple priests. They start performing aarti which goes on till 6:45 PM. After that devotees take bath once again in river.
1. Temple entrance has "Shoe / Chappal Storage Stand" which will get filled up by 5:30PM. Tip: They are selling plastic bag for Rs 10 near the entrance. You can keep all your shoes / chappals and handover to storage counter by 5:15 PM itself. In case, you are staying at lodges nearby, just leave those in room itself.
2. Best place to watch aarti is from opposite side bank of temple. There is a golden coloured clock tower in a concrete platform which is opposite side of temple. Watching from that ghat is more convenient.
3. Harki pauri is at a narrow road. So cars are not allowed. Only share auto / rickshaw. We were staying at Bheemgoda Parking ("No entry barrier" ) from there we took share auto.

- yesararChennai (Madras), India749 contributionsExcellent temple complex with many deities and Mansa devi is the main one. The cable car operators tried to force us to buy round tickets to both hill shrines
Mansa & Chandi or else for only Mansa we have to wait long time. We didn't fall for it and finished darshan in normal time.Written 27 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Getting to the cable car requires an auto rickshaw which our hotel arranged. Once there the security staff kindly took us in Hand to guide us through the somewhat complicated arrangements to access cable car. It wasn’t exactly Swiss standard but worked. Once there we headed for the close by temple. It being a religious holiday we weren’t the only ones. It’s colourful and fascinating.Written 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- HofH999Melbourne, Australia1,130 contributionsThis temple is central to the holiness of Haridwar and in the heart of Kankhal which the oldest part of town. Understanding the story of the death and commemoration of Lord Shiva’s wife is fascinating. The area has offices of the 13 Hindu cults/denominations and many ashrams. The walk along the water front of the Ganges is spectacular including sights of cremations.Written 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Mayapur name is old name of Haridwar so u know it would be based on Mata's name.
Demerit-- everywhere you will find dirt , bad odour .
Really disappointed from the government who has to maintain, people who live and travellers who visited here.
