I have only been to Spain once myself, but I expect that Seville would have more possibilities. Unfortunately, I was only able to spend about eight hours there, and that was not enough. The Parque Maria Luisa was extra special, and one could spend an entire day wondering this area.
However, if the Alhambra is on your list, I think Granada would be best location. The Hotel Guadalupe was an excellent and reasonable accommodation. Also, make your reservations for the Alhambra ahead of time. I made mine through hotel, and everything went smoothly.
A difficult choice! I have been to both cities for short breaks (3 nights) during the past couple of years. The Alhambra is probably one of the most beautiful and remarkable places you would ever visit, and the old town in Granada is also well worth a wander round, and there are some great bars - with free tapas! But Seville probably has more to do over 3 days, and you can get more than a taste of the Moorish and other beautiful and historic architecture at the Alcazar, the cathedral and other sites such as Casa de Pilatos. And the Santa Cruz area is lovely to walk around. Plus the bars, tapas and flamenco are great
So I was going to say that I suggest Seville but, on the other hand....
Thats a tough decision!
However, as you are coming such a long way, it would be a shame to miss either.
What I would do is have 2 days/1 night in Seville then take the evening bus to Granada - leaves Seville 17.00, arrives Granada 20.00 fare Euro 17.60 - have the night there and explore the city/see the Alhambra the following day.
Just a suggestion.
For history, culture, churches, museums, monuments, shopping, nightlife and restaurants the hands down choice would be Sevilla. The architecture and gardens of the Real Alcázar Sevilla are just as fascinating as the Alhambra. The Cathedral and adjoining La Giralda are preeminent. Once you have been to Sevilla, you will want to return.

Granada is more scenic, has nice restaurants, the Alhambra and free tapas. A visit to Granada is pleasant but not particularly extraordinary.

If your schedule allows, you should definitely add Segovia to your itinerary. The Roman aqueduct and El Alcázar de Segovia well worth a visit.
Thanks guys ! I know it's a tough one. Seems like I must at least see the alhambra before moving on to Seville. Thanks for the suggestion on Segovia, I'll definitely check it out.
If Granada is on your list, then don't forget to get advance entrance tickets to the Alhambra. it would be a shame going all the way there only to not be able to get in.
I also would have preferred Sevilla for 3 days. Granada is much smaller and Seville is loaded history-wise. As mentioned previously, Seville also has the Moorish Castle and the huge Gothic Cathedral...aside from the Barrio Santa Cruz which is my favorite.
