- A woman is dragged off a boat and onto a muddy shore. A rock is seen being smashed multiple times in between her thighs, followed by a larger object that appears to have points or be sharp. She is seen covered in mud and blood and is then struck in the head multiple times and appears to be dead. Then is dragged back to the boat.
- A tribal member is killed by being hit many times with a bunch of stick like weapons
- A couple acts of cannibalism depicting a group of tribal people eating human meat. Other acts of cannibalism are implied throughout. These aren't too graphic.
- An abortion is shown in graphic detail.
- A mans leg is cut off with a machete after a venomous snake bite. A bit bloody
- Some natives are chased through the woods by soilders and are shot dead. One is taken captive.
- A dead nude woman is shown impaled with a pole. Graphic up-close scene of the pole is shown as it sticks out of the woman's mouth.
- After the characters exit the woods into a clearing, a corpse is seen being carried off by natives.

- This movie contains scenes of animal cruelty, in the form of murder . If you are at all squeemish about animal violence, don't watch this movie (at least not the standard cut)
- A man is killed via machete by village people. We see blood.
- There are extremely graphic rape scenes where women are raped by several men.
- A woman is raped by being penetrated by a wooden dildo before having her vagina mutilated as a part of a ritualised punishment for cheating on her boyfriend before she is beaten to death (EXTREMELY GRAPHIC AND DISTURBING, one of the most brutal moment in the film, possibly the main reason for the X rating).
- Contains extremely graphic bloody violence. Brutal and explicit scenes of people being beaten to death, shot and executed by a firing squad.
- A man's penis is cut off (very disturbing).
- There is extremely graphic blood shown during violence but also after where corpses are shown with their skin cut off and being sliced up (graphically).

- At the start, one of the main characters seems 'high' for a short period of time.
- A man often smokes a tobacco pipe.
- A soldier is seen drinking beer.
- A man snorts cocaine off his machete and coerces a captured native to do the same.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- A group of people wade across a river, an alligator is seen swimming nearby and it is a bit intense and peril as they move across the river.
- During most of the violent parts, Riz Ortolani's heartbreaking violin music is heard, making the most disturbing scenes almost unbearable to watch.
- Extremely disturbing scenes/images of animal slaughter such as a giant turtle having its head cut off, limbs cut off and organs pulled out and a monkey's head being sliced off (these are the most graphic instances of animal violence).
- There is a frightening and disturbing moment where the body of a newborn baby is submerged in mud.
- Disturbing scenes of cannibalism.
- This is widely known as one of the most disturbing films ever made.
- This film has an official MPAA rating of X and would likely be updated as NC-17. It would be very hard for this film to get an R rating, too many cuts would be required,
- The 2014 Blu-ray release features both the original theatrical cut (96 minutes) and an edited version (90 minutes). The theatrical version features all scenes involving animal cruelty.

Violence & Gore
- 3 men are seen taking turns beating up a tribe member while another character is yelling and worried about something else instead of someone getting killed. The tribe member is then shown to be impaled on a large wooden stake.
- We learn the documentary crew is commiting acts of violence and disturbing things to later make their doccumentary more intense. Some of these include betraying people by killing them, and being violent and cruel towards the natives, as well as killing a turtle and killing a couple other animals.
- The final minutes of the movie documentary are shocking and depict the murders of the four cameramen and lasts about a total of six minutes.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- We discover that the missing film crew is dead when a character discovers a throne made out of what is implied to be their bones remains and their camera.
- The film's violence was so extreme that the director was charged with murder and obscenity (due to the fact that audiences thought everything on-camera was real; the concept of found footage films wasn't a thing before this movie came out), the sexual content mostly consists of brutal and graphic rape scenes. If rated NC-17 it would most likely be the most sexually and graphically violent rated film ever in the history of cinema. Not a film for anyone under 17, PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
