The Montreal Biodome is a space where visitors can explore a total of four different eco-systems found in North and South America in a comfortable indoor setting. It offers visitors a fun and interesting way to explore the bio-diversity that makes up our planet's eco-system.

The four exhibits are the Tropical Forest, a reproduction of a South American rain forest; the Laurentian Forest which simulates a North American wilderness, the Saint Lawrence Marine Eco-system which models the habitat of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence estuary; and the Polar exhibits which introduce visitors to both the Arctic and Antarctica.

The exhibits are real - not just dioramas. They are filled with real plants and wildlife from the regions they represent. Think of it as a very large themed aquarium and zoo all in one with a controlled climate that even follows the seasons. The result truly is a memorable experience which explains why the Biodome attracts close to one million visitors every year.

The Biodome was first opened in 1992 inside a large stadium located in adjacent to Olympic Stadium. The stadium was originally built to house the Velodrome during the 1976 Olympic Summer Games. Renovations to convert it into the Biodome began in 1989.

Both adults and children are sure to be left with fond memories of their visit to this popular Montreal attraction.

Biodôme Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 Star Rating

5 Star Rating It’s one of the best experiences in Montreal I’ve ever had! It’s totally a fun time with friends. Looking at the structure of the Biodome from the outside in the maps, that aerial shot gave us goosebumps to visit at any cost. It had like four sectors inside, one is tropical, arctic, water & regional I guess. Everything is interconnected. Charge is 25$ I guess. Parking is not inclusive, you have to take a parking spot somewhere in the stadium and park there, parking would be another 25$. So, yes you can have fun if you are into animals. Stadium access is not available for us as it’s under renovation. But overall it’s a one time visit and good experience. Have fun.

5 Star Rating It had been many years since I last visited the biodome, so I was pleasantly surprised with the refresh it had gotten. We visited on New Year’s Day, which made for a fairly busy day here. The animals were out and about, fairly easy to spot, and we had fun walking through all the different ecosystems to see all the different wildlife. As educational as ever, and super tidy welcoming environment. I think it’s fairly priced ticket-wise, but the start time system seems wholly unnecessary. I believe it was an addition during Covid for reduced crowds, but now it’s just a nuisance because everyone starts their visit at the same time, and goes into the rainforest all at once. Seems more ideal to just get rid of the timeslots. It didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the establishment, but it’s something I have to note. Fun family activity. Highly recommend.

5 Star Rating Exciting and fun experience observing wildlife in their habitats, even for adults and not just kids. I went there on weekend we didn’t had to wait at the entrance for tickets but may be because of the Christmas season. There were decent number of people inside. You get to enjoy different habitats. It’s not very huge. You can easily cover within an hour of time even when you would stop at each species for some time. The ticket is $23 approx but they have student discount and can get for $16. They have paid parking space. But the parking cost is $25 which is a bit absurd. But still would recommend visiting this place.

5 Star Rating After several similar exhibitions in the US, the exhibition itself did not make a great impression, but it is worth emphasizing the extremely original architecture of the facility, absolute cleanliness and order and very (!) friendly service! The exposition of the tropical forest and the aquarium reflecting the scenery of the Gulf of St. Lawrence are nice. Tickets for Montreal residents are cheaper 🙃. In the complex, there is a passage to the Planetarium and many attractions - especially for younger children.

5 Star Rating Great place to spend the day. The vegetarian cafeteria was very good although a bit pricey. Each enclosure/exhibit was clean and beautiful. Best to go is around feeding time as the animals come out.
