Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back 3D Blu-ray (2017) [Region A Locked]
Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back 3D Blu-ray Well, an official release date has been announced for June 6 in the USA, but no blu ray 3d version. I heard great things about the use of 3d in this film, this makes me very very angry, especially after I was very impressed with use of 3d in flying swords of dragon gate as well as the taking of tiger mountain. this film is intended to be seen in 3d and the fact that Sony isn't including the 3d version makes me mad, a huge slap in the face to those who want to see it on 3d at home. NO 3D = NO SALE! not happy about that at all, Sony has already lost a consumer, not buying a 2d version of a movie that was originally in 3d. Last edited by Deciazulado; 11-18-2021 at 10:43 PM. |

As much as I love Stephen Chow and Tsui Hark, I just have to warn you about two things: 1. Having seen the first film in this series, I think this one is crap. I would give it a rent or something before committing to import it for like $50. 2. Having a 3D Blu-ray of the last Stephen Chow film, The Mermaid, the framing is pretty strange at times, and the picture is too bright.

but this one doesn't have a 3d version? this is not right, it really isn't. I heard great things about the 3d in one, and the fact that Hong Kong isn't getting a blu ray 3d version is very frustrating. I'm really angry about this. |

Edko usually does a 2D + 3D single disc. I wouldn't sweat it until the final jacket cover is out. Same thing happened with Office and Monster Hunt where the pre-order image and listing said nothing about 3D.

I keep hoping that when Journey Demons Strike Back is released the studio will also release a two-pack edition with the first Journey movie -- BOTH on 3D blu-ray.

Anyone ready for some silly speculation? I was just taking a look at the listing on Buyoyo for the Hong Kong release and found what I'm guessing is an item code. It says (299778-B-3D). I noticed that 3D at the end so that gives me hope that it is actually being released in 3D.
Here's the link for those curious: https://www.buyoyo.com/buyoyo/eng/Pr...98226&prtype=0 |

This reminds me that I need to put in an order to DDDHouse for all those Asian 3D films that never got a release in the states. I think my last count had about 15 titles I wanted haha. Really glad the Hong Kong versions always include English subs, means we'll always have a reliable source.
If only Well Go would stop being cheap and/or lazy and bring over the 3D version as well, I probably would have been able to cut that list in half. |

Just placed an order for the Hong Kong version on DDDHouse. I wanted to take advantage of that pre-order discount. I'll report back when I receive my copy if it's 3D or not unless the listing is updated before then.
@grazina31 I didn't even know the first one was released in 3D. I bought the US release of it awhile back as it does include the original Mandarin soundtrack. I'm not sure if you've seen The Crossing series or not but if you haven't, be forewarned the 2nd movie is a dumpster fire. The Crossing I is fine but unlike the Red Cliff series where Red Cliff I becomes better after having watched Red Cliff II, The Crossing I becomes even worse. And speaking of 3d movies that were never released, have you watched this trailer for Kung Fu Hustle 3D? It is quite amazing how they've remastered the movie for pop out moments. This one is definitely on top of my wish list. |

My go to guy on ebay for HK blu-ray also lists the 3D.
here's the back cover for anyone that wants to check it. Comes with Mandarin so it is a go. Quote:

Young Detective Dee Rise of the Sea Dragon is my favorite Asian 3D, by a wide margin. I ordered 9 more Asian 3Ds today. Should hold me for a while. Thanks for the help, guys! |

Generic question: do you find it difficult to grasp the cultural meanings behind what's shown in some of these Asian films? Or are they quite neutral in that regard? I just got to wondering if they are a little, erm, tricky to follow.
I don't own a Region A player alas, so haven't had much exposure to these films (although they do sound like top-notch 3D demos). |

Yes, I usually find the plots hard to follow. But, as an example, my favorite Asian actor/director/producer is Jackie Chan, and his plots are generally easier to follow, but I have never watched a Jackie Chan movie for the plot! |
