Football fans know the months-long grind, but when does the NFL season end in 2023? We look at the important end-of-season dates to know.

If there’s one thing we know for certain, it’s that any NFL season is a grind. And in the interest of making more money, the league has ensured that’s even more so the case.

Starting in the 2021 NFL season, Roger Goodell and the owners moved to having 17 games and 18 weeks in the regular season. When you then add in the four rounds of the playoffs as well, that could have teams playing as many as 21 games if they are lucky enough to make it to the Super Bowl.

But when you get into the dog days of the season, even the fans can start to wear down a little bit — which has to make you wonder how the players are feeling going through 17 games. That, however, has fans wondering when the NFL season ends.

Whether you’re talking about the end of the regular season or the end of the playoffs, we’ve got you covered.

When does the NFL season end? Week 18 date, what to know

The 2023 NFL season will end on Sunday, Jan. 7 with the Week 18 games being played then. Unlike every other week of the regular season except for the preceding Week 17, there will be no Monday Night Football game at the end of the regular season in order to not give any teams an unfair advantage knowing where they stand in the playoff race. It is the only week in the regular season when there are no Thursday or Saturday night games on the schedule.

Everything in the NFL season before the playoffs will end on that Sunday.

When does the NFL season end? Playoff, Super Bowl dates

The NFL season will fully end with Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. The playoffs prior to the Super Bowl will conclude with conference championship Sunday on Jan. 28.

Obviously, the NFL calendar won’t stop there. Free agency will begin in mid-March before the draft will then take place in April — it’s truly become a year-round sport. But the NFL season will end on Jan. 7 or Feb. 11, depending on what you’re calling the end of the season.
