Western New York is brimming with beautiful little towns that are just begging you to explore them. Ellicottville is about an hour south of Buffalo, and its charming streets are full of quaint shops, its historic district is lovely, and its resort is the perfect spot to get some fresh air, year round.
The charming little town of Ellicottville was founded in 1820. Though it only has around 1,600 residents, it's a thriving town with a bustling downtown.
This town focuses on local businesses, and its zoning laws don't allow large chain restaurants or stores, so you'll find plenty of shops full of unique items, and cute local bistros, coffee shops, and pubs.
During the summer, local musicians fill the air with live music. The Village Gazebo Series is held at City Hall every Thursday night. Bring a picnic and enjoy free music from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Festivals fill the streets year-round. You'll want to visit for the Jazz & Blues Weekend in late July, the Taste of Ellicottville in August, the Rock N Roll Weekend in September, and more.
Stroll through the Nannen Arboretum. This beautiful little arboretum and botanical garden encompass eight acres, and it's full of pretty flowers, trees, and water features. You'll find it at 28 Parkside Dr.
Grab a snack or meal at one of the town's cafes; if the weather's nice, you'll want to dine on the sidewalk patio, where you can people watch and enjoy the fresh air.
Test your courage at the Sky High Aerial Adventure Park, where you can navigate an obstacle course high up in the trees. You can also ride the Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster at the park.
