- out-of-here-arizonaSun City West, AZ222 contributionsWe took a tour of this center hoping to learn the difference between Amish and Mennonite. The tour was much more. The one hour tour started out at the Cycleorama where our guide gave us the history of how both cultures/religions came to be as well as what their beliefs are today. The tour included an Amish schoolhouse that was used in the early days and moved to its current location at the center. The Amish barn shows what would be stored in the barn - buggies, the hand tools used for building, and a cart that stores the benches that the Amish use for religious services. We learned religious services are held every other Sunday at a church members house, men and women are separated on opposite sides of the room.

The little ones in our group especially loved Berlin Pets – we were not shopping for a puppy, but the space is very open and anyone can handle and play with the puppies, which of course is a big-hit with little kids.
From the pictures online I got the impression somewhere in Schrock’s they do horse-drawn buggy rides, but we weren’t able to find where that was so wound up taking one over at Hershbergers instead.
Fun area though to pass some time, was nice to get out of the heat (shopping is always a good rainy day activity too). The popcorn is also fantastic at buy 3 get 1 free: got kettle corn, cheddar & carmel corn with cashews. The time spent with Farmer David was a highlight of our trip.
