Public transportation in Frankfurt

Hi all,

What do you think about the means of transportation in Frankfurt ?

Is the network of means of transportation well developed?
What modes of transport are available?

Do you use them?

How much is a fare?

Are they relatively safe?

What is the mean of transportation you use the most in Frankfurt?

Thanks in advance for participating!

Are you doing a developed study? Here is what I think

Commun transportation in Frankfurt is to my opinion very very good. I am speaking about the center of the city, in the zone 50 at least.

You have mainly 3 types of transportation; S-Bahn (fast "long distance" train, U-Bahn (underground) and Buses. I use them every day to go to work, and I have to say, even if my station (Frankfurt-Nied)is well desserved, I always -most of the time- get to work in time. And if the train is late, there is no more then 7 minutes difference on power-hours. It might not always be the case. In the late evenings and nights, you get less service, but it is normal. You really have to plan your trips..

You can go to www.rmv.de and type the name of the stations to get the schedule, or download the app on your cell phone. This is SO convenient.

General fares are about 2,30 euros one way, but you really get in your money if you take the month/year cards. I take the monthly one, for the 50 zone (the principal one) and it is 76 euros, unlimited use.

I would not take the train by myself in the city after 11h, but in group(3 or more lol), I would. It doesnt mean I would not be scared, but I guess I can say it is relatively safe. (depends on your personnal background, and your attitude.)In the day there is no problem at all. Plus they have those security agents most part of the time in each wagon.

I hope it helps!

thanks for your post jo.ars, yes it helps a lot :)
